Chapter 4

Niall's pov-->

"Mr. Horan?" the nurse called. My head immediately shot up and I was on my feet. Dizzy and tired as I was, I followed the nurse down the long, dark hospital hallway. I started becoming out of breath, one part because the hallway was what seemed to be nine miles, and the anxiety of if she was okay. While we continued on walking, the nurse spoke up to me with her quiet voice.

"She kept shouting for you.." She spit out as she turned her head around to tell me, as she continued our trek down the hallways.

"She did?" I questioned shoving my hands in my pockets. I'm shocked she remembered my name considering what had happened just a few hours ago.

"Yes. She's been fighting the nurses to go and find you. Your girlfriend has been quite a hassle Mr. Horan." the nurse chuckled out a laugh that echoed down the eerie hallways.

"Oh she's not my gir-" I was cut off by the nurse opening the door to a fast asleep blonde girl, not like the woman in white was listening to me. Her eyes shot open at the sound of my voice.

"Niall! Niall! Who are these people? What's happening to me?" She screamed at me in fear. Her glistening blue eyes, were now a shade of moon sky blue, darkest I've ever seen I swear. She swung her arms around trying escape from the white coated people.

"Oh love its okay." I said rushing to her side. She gripped onto my hand like there was no tomorrow. She was strong. Her grip seemed un-escapable. Her eyes traveled from her hand and my hand up to my eyes. This look. She seemed so vulnerable.

"Now calm down, we don't want you ripping your IV out." I said rubbing her left arm and I tried giving her a warm smile, but I knew she saw right through it. "Lay down and rest." I said to her as she leaned back on the bed. I pulled up the dark grey, uncomfortable chair beneath my bum so I could sit down and continue to hold onto her icy cold hand. She slowly but eventually fluttered her blue eyes, which had returned to the deep blue I recognized, and closed them. I watched patiently as her chest slowly rose and fell.

After about an hour or so, I awoke to see her looking at me, head still laid back on the white pillow. I looked down to see I wasn't holding her hand anymore and I had a small mint green blanket on me. I looked back up to her eyes.

"Did you.. Did you put this on me?" I asked with my raspy voice and pointed to the blanket, shifting in the seat.

"Oh yeah. You looked really cold. Sorry I don't mean to be weird." She said looking the other way and gazing out the window.

"oh don't worry about it. Actually thank you." I said smiling even though she couldn't see my face. "I think we should call your parents...--" I didn't even know her name.

"Oh I'm Sydney... Miller. I'm so so sorry you had to be here and go through all this. I know it's totally out of your way and inconvenient and I'm sorry and you can leave and I'll call my parents shit I don't have my phone I'll use the hospital thank you for everything." She was out of breath when she finished. I started laughing like a fool.

Sydney's pov-->

Why is he laughing? Why is he even here? I should be dead. Standing on that cold concrete should've been my last step. Why did he stop me?

"Why're you laughing at me?" I said with tears in the brim my makeup free eyes and hot red cheeks. Speaking of makeup free, I can honestly say this is the first time a guy has ever seen me without makeup. I'm nervously see if he'll point it out.

"Oh silly I'm not laughing at you.. Well I am but I'm laughing at your rambling. Don't worry about any of this alright? I'm happy to be here and I'm happy you're all alive and well." He said with a chuckle. He had such a cute laugh. So smooth and cherishable. I smirked at his laugh.
