 Corinthians 13:8

"Love Never Fails"

God created man, man created woman and together they create new life. They say the love for your child is the strongest love of all and that it never dies. Nobody can explain the love you have for your child, there are no words to describe the immense, overwhelming feeling of love.  As soon as that child enters the world, its yours. Yours to protect, yours to love, yours to cherish. It's an instant bond, one you have for life, no matter what occurs, through thick and thin.

They're part of you and we're part of them. There's no greater, significant feeling on this earth. Parents are meant to protect you, especially from the truth of evil.

This however was not the case for me.

My fathers love for me died the 7th May 2004, my 9th birthday.

The very same day my mother died. The very same day half his soul was taken away. The half which contained his love for me.

7th May 2004

Mommy! Mommy! Mommy is asleep on the floor. She has been asleep for a long time. We had been doing our anual birthday dance when she started wheezing and collapsed on the floor. I brush her hair because she likes that. She doesn't wake up.

I tap her on the shoulder. "mama" I whisper.

I start to get up, when she grabs my hand, startling me. "Mama!" I whisper again.

She is barley able to talk, only the slight puff of air escapes her lips. I lean forward and put my ear to her mouth and hear her faint voice whispering words into my ear.

"Never let anybody overpower you, my sweet Deliah. Only you can control your destiny."

And with that she is gone. She lies still. She is cold. I fetch a blanket, and I cover mummy, and I lay down on the cream rug beside her. I cry silently, wishing I wasn't alone.

The voices of my father and brothers stir me. I'm cuddled into mummys side. She is so still. I can hear the voices closing in. The door to the living room opens, revealing my brother's and fathers excited faces, untill they see mama.

"Angie?!" My father sprints to my mothers other side, and cradles her in his arms, crying.

"Angie, wake up Angie. Please. Please. Don't leave me. I love you Angie. Don't go."

My fathers sobs and pleas suddenly halt as he slowly looks towards me, an angry expression on his face.

"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?!" He roars.

"I-I-I didn't do anything... w-we were d-dancing, when she started wheezing and f-f-ell" I weeped.

My father ignores me, and turns his attention back to mummy.

"ANGIE!" He cries.

I look up to see both my brothers still standing by the door tongue-tied, a look of horror passing over there faces. I crawl along the floor to a corner of the living room and sit against the wall, with my head between my legs.

I block out everything, and sway back and forth.

I think back to the last thing mummy said, the words that will forever haunt me.

"Never let anybody overpower you, my sweet Deliah. Only you can control your destiny."
