ALPHA DARKEL CONSTANTINE
'Alpha'
The whisper rang through my head disturbing my work.
"What Tate" I replied harshy.
No answer.
"Tate"
I'm getting angrier by the second.
"TATE!"
His Mind is blank. He's shut me off. Blanked me. No one ever blanks me.
He can explain himself when he's back.
Bastard.
Sweeping a hand through my hair is frustration, I lean back in my chair and close my eyes. A piece of fucking silence.
*
My silent hearing is suddenly disturbed picking up the sound of running and heavy breathing. It's getting louder and louder, coming towards me.
My office door is flung open. Opening my eyes, I stand quickly pissed of at who ever just entered without knocking.
"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING" I boom at them.
I realise it's Mike and Fiona Sampson. They were a small family, with just one son Tommy. Mike's brother Sam is the head trainer for the children.
"We're sorry Alpha, it's just we've lost communication with Tommy and well..."
"What do you mean you've lost communication with Tommy?" I talk directly to Mike as It seems Fiona is unable to respond with her constant weeping.
"Well, he went on his first run today with the patrolers and he kept telling us how amazing it was... and then he just... stopped"
"Have you tried contacting anyone else on the patrol?"
"Yes, I tried contacting Sam, who went with the group, but no reply"
"Anyone else?"
"No Alpha"
"He's gone" Fiona whispered.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"He's gone... He's gone" Fiona kept repeating.
Females have special bonds with their young, feeling all emotions, including pain. Fiona must of felt all of Tommy's emotions.
"Jesus... Mike gather a few men and meet me in the opening outside"
"But Alpha..."
"What" I snapped back, irritated that he's ignoring me.
"Nothing"
"Good, now leave and gather the men" I growl out.
"Yes Alpha" Mike replied leading out a weeping Fiona and shutting the door behind them.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
"TATE" I tried once more.
Nothing.
Pacing the floor, I sweep a hand across my face, bothered about the group. I try communicating with Sam.
"Sam"
Silence.
"Sam Reply" I command.
Nothing. My wolf is pacing feeling on edge knowing a battle is on our hands.
Feeling eager to fight, I open my office door and walk towards the Opening.
The opening is a large flat area outside surrounded by forest where we occasionally have training or matches. Arriving I notice Mike has gathering men like I asked. They all bow in respect and chant 'Alpha' whilst Ink my third comes forward speaking in a deep, hushed voice.
"Alpha, I can't get through to anyone, including Tate."
"Was Tate with the group" I reply equally quiet.
"No, he went for a run alone."
"How long ago?"
"About an hour."
"When did you last communicate with him?"
"15 minutes or so."
"Fuck" I sign in frustration. Stepping back I instruct the others. There's 8 of us in total.
"3 of you will go east and south with Ink, the others with come west with me. We have lost all communication with the training group who went on a group run about an hour ago. We have also lost contact with Beta Tate, whom went on his own run. Mike's son was with this group and says he lost contact with tommy very suddenly. When did you last speak with Tommy Mike?"
"About 20 minutes ago, my mate says she felt Tommy's sudden emotion change, from excitment to frightened" His eyes held such worry.
"If you notice anybody hurt or anything strange, contact me immediately. Got it?"
"Yes Alpha" They all said in union.
"Good. Let's go"
I started running west, towards the wood with my men following me. Jumping in mid-air I changed into my wolf. Everything was different when I transformed. I could smell, hear and run faster. My wolf was on full alert.
We were running at an average paste but my wolf was agitated, he wanted to go faster and take control. He knew something I didn't, and he wanted to get there.
Fast.
Knowing it was for the best, I let go. The feeling of being pushed back into my wolf's mind was surreal, from here I could sense and feel my wolfs mind.
Like I presumed, he was worried, but not just for our pack. He was worried about something else too, the same thing he was excited and nervous for.
He had never felt such emotions, normally he was angry and cold matching my own.
The scent of fresh blood filled his snout causing him to become angry again. He ran faster, avid for revenge. His foot steps were the only ones I could hear, notifying that we had left the others behind.
The scent of blood has gotten stronger, making my blood boil with rage. He stops at a clearing mid run and growls at the sight.
Bodies.
Pack members are sprawled everywhere, all at odd angles and burns gashing their bodies. I walk slowly around them all and notice Sam. He's on his back, eyes wide open, horror showing in his dark orbs. I notice a blade clutched in his hand, obviously for defending the pack.
I observe his wounds, noticing the pain to them. What would of caused this? How?
Hearing faint voices my Wolf sniffs the air and growls. Walking slowly towards a far tree, I crouch into position and look for the source.
I notice Tommy first. He's on his front in a protective shell. His body is not as twisted as the others, but his burns are worse, covering most of his face.
Hearing the voice's again, I look towards it and notice Tate. He's being held up by the neck barely able to breath, his face twisted in pure pain. But what shocks me most, is that it's a woman who is holding him above her petit frame. My wolf growls wanting to be closer to the girl.
I'm confused and angry at the same time. Confused as to why he wants to be closer to her and angry that he does.
I Catch Tate's eye and nod, waiting for the signal, teeth baring.
"Any last words?" The woman hisses.
I catch his faint whisper, "It's going to be painful"
And with that I lunge.
