I awoke in a rush. My breathing was heavy and I was sweating. My heart beat was as fast as a shotgun. I looked down at my hands to see that they were shaking.

Suddenly, flashes of what happened entered my mind. The ice cream, the sketchbook, the drawings, and then I fell. I fell off of my roof. Didn't I?

Was all of that just a bad dream? I don't remember falling asleep at any point in the day. In a mad panic, I began to dial Veronica's phone number. She picked up on the third ring.

"Hello?" Her voice sounded drowsy and hoarse. That's when I realized that it was the middle of the night.

"Hey, sorry for calling so late." I said feeling embarrassed.

"What is it?" Her tone was frustrated.

"Stupid question but, did I fall off of the roof yesterday?" There was dead silence. Then I heard her begin to laugh.

"Are you serious Eliza? You called me at three in the morning to tell me about another one of your stupid dreams?"

"It wasn't a dream! Or was it? I don't know." The words sounded so familiar. As if it weren't even coming from me.

"Think of it this way. If you fell off of your roof, do you think you'd be okay?"

It seemed like a rhetorical question but I answered anyway.

"I am pretty healthy you know! I could've just.... healed fast..." I could practically hear her rolling her eyes.

"Well next time, just wait until the morning to talk, okay? Goodnight!" Before I could reply she hung up. I was then left alone in my dark room, listing to the dial tone of my phone.

I hope she wasn't too mad at me. I felt like a complete idiot.

After lying in bed for what felt like hours, I decided to get up and draw something. Sleep was being rather difficult. All I could think about was me falling and dying. I grabbed my sketch book and a box of pencils and proceeded to crawl through the already open window.

The stars seemed to have multiplied. There were dozens. It looked like they were painted on the black canvas that is the sky. And the moon seemed to be even brighter. I just sat against the shingles for awhile until something came to me.

I just can't wait! Once we set sail, it'll be great.

An image of someone looking out at a sunset. No, there were two people. Yes, two people looking out on a sunset. The were sitting on a dock near a beach. One was a boy with spiky brown hair. The other was a girl with short red hair. The girl then stood up on the dock, while the boy looked at her. She said something, and the boy returned his attention to the sunset. The drawing seemed incredibly familiar. It began to bother me. I but down the book and buried my face in my hands.

"What's wrong with me?" I began to question myself.

Footsteps began to echo beneath me. I leaned over the edge of the roof to see who it was. I saw a figure in a black coat, covering their body from head to toe. They stopped walking. I hesitated to get away but they already saw me.

They had a hood on so I couldn't see their face. I felt frozen on the spot.

The figure then turned away and reached out their hand. A dark corridor appeared in front of them and they walked through it. Once they were gone, the corridor dissolved into thin air.

I began to stare in disbelief. What did I just see? Am I going crazy? No it's just lack of sleep. I'm probably just hallucinating or something.

Without hesitation, I picked up my stuff and crawled back through the window heading back to bed. It took me awhile to fall asleep after that.

----

"Eliza!"

"What?" I pull my head up in panic.

"Are you even listening?" Veronica asks in a winy tone. I looked up to see her amused expression.

I barely got any sleep last night, so I've kind of been zoning out more then usual today.

"Sorry," I say, examining my bowl full of what is now melted vanilla ice cream.

"I was saying, Seth and Evan want us to go over to Evan's place."

"Oh, right. Okay let's go."

I get up from the table outside of the ice cream parlour and toss my ice cream into the garbage bin. Veronica and I continue to walk down the street until someones shoulder hits me, knocking me to the ground on my butt.

I turn around to see who knocked me down. I see a tall man in a black coat. Her turns to look at me but continues to walk away. Veronica stops in her tracks and turns around to see me on the ground.

"Eliza what happened, are you okay?"

"You again...." I mutter to myself. I begin to scramble to my feet and walk over to the man. Until Veronica stops be by grabbing my shoulder. I turn to face her.

"What's wrong?" Concern was all over her face.

"Nothing," I say, brushing off the dirt on my pants. "It's just that guy pushed me-"

I turned around to see no one was there. "Over...."

"What guy?" Veronica looked just as confused as I did.

"But he was right there. Didn't you see him?"

"What're you talking about?" I looked at her with disbelief. "Eliza what are you rambling on about? What happened?"

"Nothing, I just lost my balance." I say seeing it was useless.

"You said there was a guy?"

"No, I was just seeing things."

"But Eliza-"

"I'm okay, Veronica. Don't worry." I say brushing off the subject.

She just gave me a sad smile. We continued to walk down the street, over to Evan's house.

There was a guy there, I just know it!

Am I going insane?
