Peter tried hard to pay attention as his history teacher stumbled over the idea of a renaissance man. He loved history, he just loved getting enough sleep more, which he hadn't done last night. Now his body was trying to do it for him.
He sighed quietly as his eyes closed without his bidding. When he opened the sealed-shut lids, ten minutes had passed and Mr. Gerik had moved on to the printing press. Peter sighed again and looked longingly at the clock.
Fourth period... Last period of the day, and then he was home free, and wouldn't have homework for two days, the next day being a B- day, purely filled with physics, genetics, electronics engineering and internships.
Then again, he did have all his martial arts classes and parkour training to do... But who ever said those weren't fun?
Gerik boomed throughout the classroom, engraving forever into the minds of the students that they needed to study their vocab words and have a good day as the bell chimed over the intercom. Peter swung his backpack onto his shoulders and shot a quick thank-you to the teacher as he attempted not to be flattened by his peers.
He stepped out into the fresh air beneath the quickly lightening grey sky, seemingly happy after a soft episode of crying it's burdens onto the earth. Peter looked up and smiled. The smell of rain always endeared him. He stepped quickly across the culdisac containing his school's self-proclaimed "tin city," the small gathering of portable classrooms right outside the home ec wing of the small highschool Peter and his friends attended.
He found his car in the adjacent parking lot and quickly popped the trunk and tossed his over-weight backpack in. "Almost as heavy as my dad..." He chuckled at his little joke and slid into the driver's seat. He turned the key in the ignition about four times before, finally, the little engine puttered to life and Pete pulled slowly out of the packed parking lot.
