Chapter 7

I stood up and looked around me. I was in a large meadow with a small waterfall and pound next to a large oak tree. Colorful trees dotted the soft, lush grass. A soft breeze blew small purple, yellow, pink, and red plants. I knew for sure that I wasn't in Montana anymore.

I walked over to the shimmering blue water and stuck my feet in the cool pound. I was wearing jean shorts and a purple tank top, so I decided that it wouldn't hurt to go for a swim. My head dipped under the clear water and I watched my hair fan out gracefully around me. I felt peaceful. I was floating. Completely relaxed. Strangely enough, I didn't even have to breathe.

I broke through the surface of the water ad swam over to the waterfall and let the water caress my tense shoulders. This felt so nice, I had been under so much stress for so long...

I suddenly felt something warm massage my back along with the water and I leaned back into it and moaned.

I heard a chuckle just behind my ear and I tensed again. "Relax," I heard a seductive voice whisper as he began to rub my shoulders again. "You'll be safe with me, Storm," he murmured, his warm breath caressing the sensitive skin on my neck.

"And why is that?" I asked. I was going for sarcasm, but my voice was uneven and shaky.

He pulled me into his arms. "Just trust me."

I felt a surge of alarm, as well as anger, and I tried to move away from him. Ray's arms just tightened. "Let go of me," my voice was icy now. "I trusted someone once and it almost cost me my life, I don't plan on making that same mistake again."

His lips brushed the back of my neck. "That someone was not me."

I whipped around to face him. "It almost cost me-" My words halted in my throat. We were both still treading water underneath the flow of water from the falls, but he was only wearing swim trunks without a shirt and his dirty blonde hair was darkened by they water and his green eyes were boring deeply into my dull hazel ones. I was distracted by his chiseled abs.

The waterfall abruptly disappeared from over me and I felt water swish around me. My back was pressed firmly between the rock wall behind the cascading falls and Ray's body.

"That was not me," he said through gritted teeth. He seemed to be leaning towards me, but you could see it in his eyes that he was fighting against something. "I would never hurt you," he murmured closing his eyes as well as the distance between us.

Beep beep beep beep beep! "Oh my god," I gasped and spat out the hair that ended up in my mouth when I had sat up so fast. Then the details of the dream came slowly back to me. "What the hell?" I thought aloud.

I rubbed my eyes and tried to blink the sunlight out of them. Why did I dream that? I don't even like him. Hell, I am on the border of hating him.

Lair, my voice breathed.

I was shocked. I thought of the voice as my conscious, my guardian angel. If it wasn't for that unexplained voice, I would be six feet under by now. The voice would always speak up just before something horrible was about to happen if I didn't see about it in a vision first. I didn't understand why it chose to speak up now.

I spent a few seconds trying to figure it out, but in realizing that it was pointless, I got up from the bed and took a quick shower. I looked at the clock as I waited for the water to warm up. 10:30. Ugh, it was too damn early.

I took a long shower. I didn't have to meet Ray until twelve so I could take my time. I put on jean shorts and a white tee. My outfit reminded me of that dream. It seemed so real. Like I had been to that place before, and everything felt so real. I had never had a dream like that before, it was so weird.
