I woke up in a tiny hospital bed with blinding lights shining in my face.

I felt a tight grip on my hand, to see Derek hovering over me with a concerned look on his face.
"Are you okay?" He asked
"Uhh, I think" I replied,"What happened?"
"I don't know, you took like one puff and you stared to cough and then, You fainted, they are going to call your mu-"
"No!" I interrupted,"They can't we like need to go now, my mum can't find out about this"

The doctor entered the room and read it the analysis on what was wrong with me.

"So it seems you have a very serious breathing problem in which, your windpipe closed up and the glands on top of your mouth inflamed. This probably cause the tightening of your chest and so you fainted,"
"Oh okay simple, right?" I willingly smiled at Derek.
"Not so simple, actually, what I'm curious about is what triggered this to happen?"

I quickly glanced at Derek, understanding where this was going.
"Normally, this happens when a person intakes marijuana, or as you may know it weed?"

"Uh, well may-"
"The air these days you know? With pollution and all its not surprising what you can breath in," Derek cut me off.

"Yeah, exactly," I agreed, Derek turned to me with a smirk on his face causing me to laugh.

"Well, I know your 19, but I will contact your mother just so she knows your okay since she is the owner of your military card and -"

A nurse rushed in.
"Mr Miller, you're needed right away!"

"I'll be one second," the doctor said to us.
And left.

"Yo, why you got a military card?" Derek asked
"My dads a veteran, was a veteran, he died in August," I whispered.
Holding back the tears.

"I'm sorry," Derek said, I saw the sadness in his eyes.

He sat next to me and pulled me into a hug so my head laid in his chest. I felt the warmth of his chest and could hear his heartbeat.
"It's hard you know? Missing someone who you'll never see again,"
Derek nodded.
"He wrote me a note you know?" I huffed.

I remember it to this day.

It said, If I die don't cry, Just look to the sky and say goodbye

Derek held my cheek in his hand and looking in my eyes said,"God has a plan, we just gotta wait and see the bigger picture,"

"I wish he would hurry and finish painting," I sniffed.
He laughed.

Everything was okay, for that moment.

But reality hit me.

"We need to leave, I really can't have him call my mum," I pleaded.

"What's so bad about smoking it's not big deal," he said.

"No Derek, please she mustn't know, it will kill her if she finds out,"

She has a deep hatred for drugs.
He doesn't know why, no one does and no one will.

"Okay lil ma, let's go,"

We grabbed all our stuff and headed out the hospital without being seen.

The doors opened to reveal the coldness of California.

Derek called an uber and it soon picked us up.

The start of the car journey was silent, as we had nothing to say.

I suddenly realised, the concert!
Derek missed it, because of me.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry you missed the concert," I said breaking the silence.

"Naah, ma its okay, I've done so many shows I needed a break to be honest with you,"

"Oh okay," I went back to looking out the window.

"I'm so tired," I yawned.

"Come back to the hotel with me, just so I know you'll be okay," he smiled.
"Alright" I said.

We came back to the hotel to find a room full of people, smoking and talking.

"She's ALIVE!" Dillion shouted.
I smiled,"Barley,"

Later in after pepperoni pizza and beers, Nate suggested we played 'Never have I ever'

Basically, we went around the circle and said things that we have never done, if you have you have to take a shot.

We all sat in a big circle, I was next to Ty and Nate. Derek was opposite me.
Nate started.

"Never have I ever been with a Black chick,"
Everyone looked at me.
I could feel Derek staring a Nate but he just smiled.
"Keep wishing, Nate," I laughed.
"I will." He winked.
Kdl, Swazz and Ty took a shot.

It was Derek's turn.
"Never have I ever been in love," he spat.
I felt a shot to my heart. It hurt that he had never felt the feeling but I understood since he says he's too busy for love.

I wanted to but, I didn't take a shot.

It came to my turn.
"Umm, never have it ever had sex-"
"WHAT?! No that's going to change," Swazz shouted.
"I don't believe it," Nate said sipping his vodka.
Derek raised his brow at me.
"-with a girl," I continued,"Damn you guys jump to conclusions wayyy to fast,"
I joked.

Later we finished playing the game and Nate called me over to him.
"Y/N, help me get something from outside, please?" He asked.

"Sure," I responded.

We went outside and the moon shine from the sky, it was beautiful.
"What is it that I have to get?"

"Actually, I just said that to get you out of the room," he said, scratching the back of his neck.
"I wanted to talk, you seem like a nice girl, but you've been hanging around with Derek,"

"Uhh, yeah?" I asked not seeing where this was going.

"Well he's not good for you," he stated.

"So you know what's good for me,"

"Yeah I do," he said

"Oh and what might that be?" I laughed.

"Me..." He whispered while fiddling with his hands.

I was in shock.
Nate liked me?
He doesn't even know me.

Before I could reply, Nate crashed his lips passionately into mine.
