Chapter 1: The New Kid
"Bye mom! Bye dad!"
I yell as I shut the front door to my house. I get in my pink convertible bug and start to drive to school. I always try to look my best for school in case there is any new kids. Today I'm wearing a strapless white and black dress with black heels. I crimped my hair and added a white bow and jewelry to complete my outfit. As I pull into the school I noticed a hot guy get out of his black Range Rover. He looked like he was a year older than me, but he was still really hot. He caught me staring! I quickly look away and grab my back pack from my car and lock and shut the door.
"Hey! I'm new here! Can you show me around?" the mysterious hot guy asked.
I look around. No one is around. He must be talking to me.
"Um sure. I'm Marissa. Nice to meet you!"
"Thanks! I'm Austin. Nice to meet you, Marissa."
I start to walk with Austin towards the school. Maybe today won't be as bad as I thought it would be.
"So Marissa, how long have you lived here?"
"I've been living here for practically my whole life. What about you?" "That was a dumb question!" I think, quickly regretting my dumb question.
"Well, I just moved here from San Antonio last week."
"Oh really?! What made you move here to Denver?"
"I don't know really. Me and my mom just needed a change."
"Oh sometimes a change is nice. Anyways what's your first class?" I ask.
"Um, Language Arts with Ms. Jenkins. What's yours?"
"Same! Well how about you find your locker and I'll meet you there so we can walk to class together."
"Okay! See you in a bit."
I walk towards my friends who are staring at me from my locker. They are talking to each other and out of no where there is a huge out burst of laughter. I finally reach them and start to open my locker.
"Oh hey Marissa! Have you seen the new guy? He's so hot!" says Ashleigh.
"Yeah you idiot! That's who she was walking with!" says Angelina.
"Are you dating him already!? says Ashleigh.
"Spill the beans!!" says Angelina.
"Guys! Calm down. We're just friends... for now." I say as I grab my books and hang my back pack up.
"Shhh he's coming!!!" Whispers Ashleigh.
"Hey Marissa! Ready to go to class?" Austin asks.
"Sure but, first I want to introduce you to my friends. This is Ashleigh and Angelina."
"Nice to meet you guys! I'm Austin."
We start to walk away as Angelina gives me the 'He probably likes you! You should date him. You guys would be cute together' look.
"So Austin, have you seen anyone who you think is pretty yet? My friends wanted to know." I lie.
"Well, I've seen one but that's it."
"Oh cool!"
We walk into the classroom and everyone's attention goes from the teacher to us.
"Um excuse me, why were you late?" Ms. Jenkins asks.
"Oh I was showing him around. He's new here." I say.
"Oh okay well Marissa take your seat and young man come here."
I walk to the very back where my seat is. The only seat open is the one next to mine and one in the front. I'm really hoping Austin sits next to me.
"Go ahead and introduce yourself to the class."
"My name is Austin and I moved here from San Antonio."
"Nice to have you in this class Austin! You can pick from one of the two open seats."
Everyone starts whispering about how hot Austin is.
"Sit here Austin! Sit here!" The most popular girl (Alexis/Lexi) in school yells.
Austin ignores her and walks to the back of the room and sits down next to me. Lexi gives me the death stare. An hour goes by and the next thing I know is me and Austin are walking to our next class. Turns out that Austin and I have every class together. I see Lexi approaching me.
"Hey Marissa! Can I talk to you," she looks at Austin, "alone?"
"Um sure." I reply.
"He is mine! I call him! I saw him first! If I see you talking to him again I will beat you up!"
"He's not yours!" I say and walk away.
