Ding Ding! It was finally the end of the day! I walked with Austin to my locker.
"Hey. So um Marissa. I was wondering if um I can have your number?"
"Sure!" I gave him my number and got my back pack out of my locker and swung it over my shoulder..
"Okay cool! Text me tonight. I have to tell you something super important!" He said as we walked to our cars.
"Okay I will!" I reply.
I get in my car and drive home as I think about what he has to tell me. I was really hoping it was along the lines of 'I like you.' Austin is so hot! He's really nice too! I walk into my house and made my way into my bedroom. I pull out my phone and text Austin.
'Hey' I send.
'Hey.' He replies.
'What was the super important thing you were supposed to tell me?'
'So I like this girl. But I don't know how to tell her. I know it was my first day but, I've never met a girl that is so nice and pretty like her. Can I have some advice?'
'Well if I was you I would keep it a secret. Take her on a few dates then one the weekend invite her somewhere and put candles everywhere and ask her to be your girlfriend. Girls don't like to wait so give her hints that you like her. Tease her. For example, lean in to kiss her then pull away.'
'Thanks for the help :) You're so nice!'
'Anytime :)'
I put my phone down and sit down to take it all in. My thoughts wandering through my head. 'What if it's me? Will I know? I like him. I want a sign to show me if it is me.'
*The Next Day*
Today I decided to wear white shorts, a pink tank top, a cute gray half shirt with the word love across it, converse, jewelry and my hair straightened with my bangs pulled back and a white bow. I start to open my locker and throw my back pack in an grab the things I need for my next classes. Before I can shut my locker someone slams it shut. I turn around to see Austin standing there.
"Hey babe." Austin says.
"Hey Austin." I reply.
"Woah! All I get is hey Austin?"
"Sorry," I laugh, "what was I supposed to call you?"
"Baby." He laughs, "I'm just kidding."
We walk to our first class. As we walked, we talked. I could feel my heart beating in my chest. I've felt it before, but this time it was so real to me. I haven't felt this way in forever.
"So thanks again for the advice last night. I'll definitely use it!"
"Oh no problem. This girl is very lucky!"
We walk into the classroom and took our seats. I pull out a piece of paper and begin doodling. I write 'I love you' across the top. Austin steals my paper and reads it. He starts erasing something, but I can't see what it is.
"Here, much better." He says handing it back to me.
I read it. It now says "I love Austin' instead of ' I love you'. I laugh.
"Um excuse me Marissa. Are you and Austin passing notes? Give me the paper!"
Ms. Jenkins comes over and takes the paper reading it out loud.
"I love Austin. Awe isn't that cute!?." she announces.
Everyone starts laughing. I blush and try to hide it but he still notices. I see him starting to blush too. I look over to see Lexi giving me the 'I said he's mine' look.
"Well the two love birds, Austin and Marissa will be joining me for detention."
Everyone starts to crack up again.
Austin moves his hand so it's resting on my thigh. I suddenly began to feel very hot inside and start to blush like crazy. He grabs my hand so our fingers are intertwined. I start to get this feeling that he will protect me no matter what. Then it suddenly hits me! It's me. You know the one he likes? Yeah, its me.
