Rudy gathered all his energy and used a spell that he was sure would blast Peter off the platform, but it back-fired and Rudy fell off the platform. Luckily he hadn’t totally fallen off. He still had one hand on the edge and he pulled himself up, but he started slipping. The crowd became quiet. Rudy reached up with the other hand. He gripped the edge. He pulled his knee up and crawled onto the platform. The crowd went wild as he stared at Peter one last time before using a spell he was sure would work. He concentrated on a spell of wind that just gently pushed Peter to the edge; then Rudy ran up and bumped into him. Peter gripped Rudy’s shirt and both began falling. Rudy reached up and held the edge. Peter crawled up and got on the platform and was going to push Rudy down, but a minute later Rudy saw Peter falling. Rudy looked up and saw a familiar face staring at him. She grabbed his hand and pulled him up; then she closed her eyes once more. Rudy yelled for a doctor, not even caring that they had won. He watched as the doctors carried Lizzie away.
