Chapter 23

I spotted the construction site with piles and hills of dirt everywhere, a not finished constructed building, and the crane that stood tall next to it. However, two very large obstacles stood around the crane - imps.

“Damn it,” I breathed, “They’re fucking everywhere,”

I ran behind a large hill of dirt and crawled up slowly to peek over the hill to see the imps grumbling at each other.

“Why are they guarding that?”

I squeaked and hit Vanessa on the shoulder. “Don’t do that V! I almost pissed my pants,”

“Sorry. Are they trying to prevent you from getting the kernelsprite?” she asked.

“Possibly,” I shrugged and noticed the others next to me, “Took you guys long enough,”

“We weren’t that long,” Angela replied.

“Fifteen minutes AG,”

She nudged me which made me chuckle. “Now what?” Dave asked, “Those fucking things are blocking the way,”

“I can get them from here,” Jade said aiming her gun at the imps.

John pushed the gun down, “We can’t blow our cover! I say we sneak up on them,”

“Yes, we can go around them. We don’t know if there are more around here hiding,” Rose added.

“Where are the trolls when we need them!” John hit the dirt with frustration.

“Oh yeah. Karkat pestered me saying how he finally made it and whatever,” Dave said nonchalantly, “They should be spying on us right now,”

“Dude! Why didn’t you tell us that!” John punched his arm.

“Sorry man. I forgot,” he shrugged.

“Okay. You know what here is the plan,” I slid down and got a small stick.

They joined in. I told them that Jade, John, and Angela should go around the second one and distract it from behind on the other side of the building; the opposite side of the crane. However, don’t shoot directly at it and just make it follow the noises. As for the other imp, it may go to the other side as well planning a type of trap on Jade, John, and Angela. Therefore, that is where Vanessa, Dave, and Rose comes in and distract the second imp. If, just in case, the two imps follow their noises, just let it flow. Moreover, if all else fails, attack. However, I told Spencer he will be look out.

“Why am I look out!” he cried.

“So! You can tell us if others are coming!” I pointed the stick at him.

“Fine,” he grumbled.

“Alright,” I nodded my head, “Does everyone sort of understand?”

They all nodded their heads. “Good,” I nodded, “Break,”

They all took off into their places steadily. I slowly crawled up the hill and jumped down from it. I looked side by side and saw buildings and empty streets. I breathed in and out.
