Taylor's pov
*a late friday night roughly a month into school*

"You were an accident!" Tom said flattly

Jake clenched his jaw but remained silent.

This caused Tom to laugh.

"Do you know what your daddy said when you're mum called telling him she was pregnant?" Tom challenged. Jake took a slow breath and persed his lips, not breaking eye contact with Tom.

Tom's eyes had an evil glint and a sly smile appeared on his face.

"He offered to pay for your abbortion," he stated matter-of-factly.

"Thomas you're taking this too far!" Justin said standing up.

"Shut up Justin," Tom said emotionlessly, almost sounding bored.

Justin took a deep breath then blew out through his nose.

Tom rolled his eyes then turned back to Jake. When Tom's in this mode, he thinks he's invincible and likes putting others down, but it's more like a little kid throwing a tantrum, an extremely intelligent kid.

Sadly this isn't a new thing, Tom and Jake argue like this a lot, it starts with a petty argument then ends in a full out grudge match that can last from days to months.

The worst part though is that Tom forces every one to take sides, and by that I mean convinces every one to take his side. Except me, he some how manages to get every one to ignore me.

"Thomas grow up!" I yelled.

"Seriously Taylor, haven't we been over this, you aren't helping, you are always on the losing team, so do us all a favor and stay out of this." He stared into my eyes, but I glanced at Jake.

"Yeah," he agreed refusing to look at me.

"Whatever," I sighed pushing past all the bystanders (Mike, Ethan and Justin)

"Maybe if you were Mckayla some one would care!" Tom yelled after me.

I glanced back to see Jake and Mike visibly tense at Toms last comment, as he lay down on his hamic.

Justins pov

I watched Taylor walk away, how could Thomas treat her like that.

"Thomas-"

"Save it Justin," he sighed holding up his hand up. Why did we let him treat any of us like this?

We stood there in awkward silence, no one daring to speak. I sighed and turned to leave.

"Where are you going Jay?" Thomas asked, eyes still closed.

"Home," I said not nearly loud enough. Thomas rolled his eyes.

"Its okay Justin, I'll go," Jake said standing slowly and leaving Thomas's yard.

"That's more like it. Lets go in and play video games," Tommy said standing up and leading the way into his house.

And just like that the rest of the night was normal, except Taylor wasn't here making fun of us and sitting too close to Tommy. And the thought of Jake was in the back of every one's mind.

*Monday morning*

I grabbed my jacket and backpack stepping out side into the slight chill.

"Finally!" Thomas exclaimed, casually leaning against the railing, "Seriously you take forever, we've got to catch the bus remember."

"Oh shut up, you've just gotten here yourself." I replied knowing he had run up my steps moments before I opened the door.

Mike, Jake, and Ethan simultaneously exited their house and we all met at the bottom of our street. Our driver Steve was home sick and our parents thought it was fine if we took the bus for a while.

"Why has Steve been gone for so long!" Tom complained.

"He got sick of looking at your ugly face," Jake muttered glaring at Thomas.

"Real mature Jake, considering your own mother couldn't stand-"

"I'm gonna stop you right there Thomas, your insults are sooo unoriginal, boring, lame, repetitive, redundant, overdone, cliché, need I go on? You've lost your creative touch. Considering you ever had one to begin with."

Tom was silent for a moment.

"Silent treatment?" Jake asked, "Thank goodness, we're all pretty sick of listening to that annoying voice of yours."

"We? You seem to be the one lacking allies right now Jacob." Thomas retorted as the bus arrived. He casually walked up the steps, followed but the rest of us. "Dont even think about it Ethan." Thomas said just loud enough for the five of us to hear.

I turned around to see Ethan looking at Jake, Ethan shrugged apologetically and Jake nodded. Then Ethan quickly followed us onto the bus. Jake was the last one on and he sat in the front by himself.
