The Light above

Standing at the edge of the pool

"Take a deep breathe

I promise you'll be okay"

The turquoise blue waves coaxed me in

Stop lying to me nothing is ever okay

I jumped in anyway

The minute I was submerged

Everything stopped

I opened my eyes

Everything was clear and blue and beautiful and perfect

I shut my eyes again

No, nothing is beautiful

Nothing is blue

Nothing is clear

Nothing is perfect

NOTHING I REPEAT NOTHING

IN YOUR LIFE IS ANY OF THESE THINGS

STOP THINKING THIS WAY

Stop

Please, just stop with the lies

I dared to open my eyes again

I was on the bottom of the pool

The rigid surface that was seven feet down

So far that the lies got to me

I closed my eyes

I can't think straight

I can't take this anymore, just STOP

The tears in my eyes joined the millions of tears around me

The tears, they were beautiful

They were the truth

I opened my eyes again to see the sad beauty

I was looking up now

Looking at the light above

Looking through the bubble speckled surface of tears

Looking at the light that told me there was beauty above

Just stop thinking this way

Stop

I broke the surface and stared at that light

I tilted my head so far up it could go no further

I looked above

Beautiful
