So I'm Rebecca and I'm a junior in high school and i,ve just been diagnosed with lukima. So it was a normal day at East Wood High and i was walking down to the office to leave early to go to my doctors appointment. I look at the clock and realize that im running late so i run to my car and get there as fast as i could. I walk in and the lady at the desk said in a country accent.
"HI, Honey bun! Please write ur name and take a seat and u will be called back soon!"
I go take a seat next to a pregnant woman and wait for 20 minutes. Then the doctor comes out and calls my name.
"Rebecca Martin" he says
I get up from my seat and walk back into the doctors office. I sit back and wait until the next doctor comes in and get's me ready for my kat scan.
"Im really nervous" i say out loud without thinking.
The lady turns towards me and looks at me with a slight nervous smile.
"You'll be fine." She says quietly and turns away quickly.
After she says that she tells me where to go next. So I quickly go to the room she tells me too and change into one of those cover things that everyone hates... yea I know it's sucks. I walk to the Kat scan room to find a doctor waiting for me!
When I walk in he turns to me and says "Ok so you're going to get on that table and be a still as possible cause that machine is gonna see if theres anything wrong with you!" He says in a low tone voice.
I get up on the table and lay as still as i can for the next 45 minutes. After the scan was over i get up and his face goes from a smile to a frown. In my head i think of a million things that could be wrong with me.
He gets up and walks towards me and takes a deep breath.
"Theres no easy way to say this but you have cancer but i don't know what kind."
I stare blankly at him while im still trying to process what he just said to me.
" well have to get the rest of the test results back in two weeks and we'll talk then" and looks at me with an apologetic look
