Once the feast was finished, Freya and I started to walk out of the great hall. We walked up the corridors, which had loads of torches hanging along the walls so the corridor was as bright as it could be.
We talked and laughed all the way up to Ravenclaw tower. When we were at the bottom of it, I saw five heavy stone staircases leading up to the Ravenclaw entrance. They moved and shifted at least once every minute. Each staircase had ten torches along the railing.
I started to walk up as Freya grabbed my arm, "Stop! Wait for the staircases cycle to end, " she said indicating the last staircase moving into a passable position for them to get to the common room.
I stopped and watched the staircases to make sure they were finished moving and then Freya and I walked forward.
We got to the entrance and I couldn't help but gaze in wonder at the beautiful sight. There was a big, dark blue arched doorway with gilded gold edges. In the middle of the door a purple perch stuck out of it with taloned feet on the perch. My eyes looked up and I saw a spectacular sleek black Raven. I gasped in surprise and wonderment.
The Raven started to speak.
What in the world?
"A witch and a wizard walk into a-"
Then instantly I knew what was happening. The bird was speaking a riddle. Mandrakes.
The door swung open and Freya looked at me in amazement. "How did you figure that out so quickly, even I'm not that smart," she said beaming at me.
"I-I don't know,I didn't say anything," I said unsure.
"Well of course you did dear, why else would this door be open if you didn't say mandrakes," the Raven said kindly.
"Come on, let's go," Freya said as she grabbed my arm and pulled me into the common room.
