:D The is dedicated to Hayley, for loving my book and being a great friend. Love you girl! :D

The first thing I notice as I wake up is the pain in my leg has almost gone away. Its night and all I can see is the things closest by a fire a couple feet away from me. I look around me and see I am not laying down under the tree anymore. I wonder where I am and look around. Some sort of hut, I sit up and grab my bag next to me. I open it up and find everything still there, as I look through my things I pick up the tin water bottle, I relise I have water and open it up and start drinking it. Its cold and refreshing. I soon finish it off. I smell something and look over to the fire. In the dim light and spot a sort of pot next to me. I quickly pick it up and dip my finger in it to taste. Next thing I know the soup is gone. I again look around and see a make shift bed of fur's across the fire. I think about the person I saw and silently get up, grabbing my things.

I look for a door way and find it. I slip out of the hut and out into open air. I gasp and stop myself before I fall, all the way down to the bottom of the tree I'm in. I look back and seeing the tree house and wonder how I am going to get down with my broken ankle. How did I get up here in the first place? My ankle is already starting to hurt from me standing on it for to long. I look down and find a ladder, but I know I can't climb down it like this. I step back from the edge and back up to the wall of the house. I start to look around for some where to hide, not knowing who this house belongs too. I see a split branch a little higher than the roof. I pull my bag over my sholders and start to climb. I blink back tears as my ankle is used. When I get up to the branch I'm in so much pain I start to black out. I shake my head and sit up. I am not going to black out and fall out of this tree. I try to focus on anything else when I see him, a tall man hidden mostly by darkness. Walking towards the same tree I'm hideing in. I keep vary still and push myself into the shadows of a tree branch. I tuck my feet in and am afriad to breathe. I'm hopeing he can't hear my heart, thumping ever so loudly in my chest. I put my hand over my mouth as he starts to climb the rope ladder. Once he gets to the top he stands, peeks into the door, and swears under his breath. He steps inside and drops the things he had slung oner his back to the ground. He steps back out side and sighs. I start to feel bad about leaveing. He helped me. Draged my sleeping butt all the way up here. Fed me. Gave me water. And I ran off. He sits down with his back to the wall, the bright moon light shining on him. I look at him as he pulls his knees up and tilts his head back. I'm guessing he is looking up at the stars. Who was this man? How did he get here? Why did he help me? It looks like he was not to much older that I was. I think about how long he could have lived here. Alone, and then he finds me. Helps me. And then I go running off. But who knows, he could kill me. Maybe it is right for me to hide. I think all of this over as the sun starts to rise. I know whenever there was more light he could see me. To my luck he stands up and walks inside. I slowly start to climb down, trying not to make a sound. I light jump down and slowly limp over to the door. I silently grab one of the sharp rocks out side the door and walk in.

I look in and step inside. I can see alot better now that the sun is up. He is sitting by the fire, moving the coals around with a stick. In seeing the sun blocked out of the door way he looks up. And then he dose something I'm not expecting. He smiles. He has dark brown hair, bright green eyes. He stands up and puts his hand out.

"Hey, Im Jasper. How is your ankle?" He says. I grasp his hand and shake it.

"I'm Coraline. And its alot better. " Jasper smiles looking at me.

"Um, sorry if I scared you. I found you knocked out under a tree by the water." He says wile bringing his hand up to his hair.

I smile at his shyness and say "Yeah, thanks for that. I think I sprained it."
