A/N: The Dragon Knights is a fantasy story jam-packed with humour, action, and a slice of romance because the fantasy department needs more dragon shapeshifter badass girls who want to be knights and save the world from massive doom (with an under appreciated, awkward, but brilliant partner who's totally not the sidekick).

This project is for summer 2016.

Warning: Due to compulsive writing, there may be presently a few grammatical errors (present, past tense, and correct use of apostrophes), however, until the story is completed and/or an editor is assigned, please excuse the messy formatting. I'll try my best!

MAYA NYX had just one dream; become the first female knight of the kingdom Levia's most sacred circle: The Dragon Slayers. However, on Maya's accolade, the seemingly harmless birthmark on her chest reveals her fate to be much more devious. A dragon shapeshifter immersed too deeply into the supernatural world, she's forced into a self-exile.

PRINCE NOLAN DALLAS is a dreamer, too, but with too many stories in his head to find the time to live his own. While brilliant prodigy and heir to the biggest kingdom power in all of Levia, his curiosity leaves him often in situations where even his crown cannot save him, oblivious to the vile undercurrent stewing behind his naïve crest.

When the biggest hoax in his era snags his desperation, things only become more complex. After stumbling across Maya on a self-expedition for the legendary Lost Princess in hopes of curing the rampaging Violet Fever, Maya promises to aid the prince with his quest if she is appointed to be the captain of his new court: The Dragon Knights. With a fae war blooming in the background, all of humanity and supernatural beings at stake, Maya realizes her curse may be the only cure for the faerie's toxic power, and Prince Nolan realizes that he has the power to write his own adventures in pen.

You think you know your fairy tales, until you realize what truly happens in stories of happily ever afters that never made it past the print.

DEDICATED TO LYDIA CARR, because aside from this absolutely gorgeous cover, she's been one of the best individuals I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I really hope if you ever read this story, it'll be put to justice.

DEDICATED ALSO TO THE ONE WHO SAID YOU COULD NOT, and let this be a great laugh at their expense as you do.

❝They told her she could not slay,
so she roared unheralded in mockery,
allowed heavens to descend, hell to rise,
and the battlefield to kneel as she flew to her victory.❞

"Just because I almost impaled myself doesn't mean I can't manage on my own."

"... Dallas, you're not going to survive out there with your toy sword."

"I'm sorry I can't turn into a 12-foot dragon to burn off enemies eyebrows, Maya."

"Well, you're in luck then, because I can."
