Song I listened to while writing this chapter: 'Lucky by Rey & Kaye'
"Give me the freaking milk, and don't you dare to drink from the carton!"
It was an usual morning at the Gonzales family.
Some families ate together in peace, telling what they were going to do that day. Laughing together. Giving each other the food they asked for, or even drinks. They would sit on their chairs, and keep their voices low.
But no, our family wasn't that way.
We were quite the opposite, actually.
And this morning, the Gonzales siblings were fighting. Over food.
I wanted the Fruity Loops, and after about three minutes of whining at my brother, I got them thanks to my mother. But now I needed milk. Which James had and didn't want to give to me.
Why wasn't I an only child?
I was glaring at James as he raised the milk carton to his lips, ready to drink from it, "You wouldn't dare," I challenged him.
James smirked, "Oh, try me." And he took a sip.
He took a freaking sip.
Out of the carton.
I stood up from my chair, letting it fall to the ground behind me. James' eyes widened in fear as he scooted backwards.
"Maddie Jane Gonzales, sit down and eat your food." My father told me from behind the newspaper he was reading.
"How am I supposed to eat my food without milk, father?" I placed my chair back up and sat back on it, folding my arms and letting out a huff.
"James, give your sister the milk," My father didn't look up from his newspaper.
"What if I want the milk?"
Why couldn't my stupid brother just hand me the freaking milk? It was just a little effort.
But then, if I were in his shoes, I wouldn't give me the milk either.
He basically hated me.
What did you do wrong, you ask?
Well, that very same question had I asked him myself, when I was around the age of twelve.
He simply answered with, You were born.
My Dad slammed the newspaper on the table, glaring at my brother, "Give her the damn milk, James Matthew Gonzales."
My brother gave me a hard glare and handed me the milk.
Victory.
I poured the milk over my cereal while in the back of my mind something was telling me not to do it, since James drank from it. But it didn't matter to me at the moment, I just really wanted to eat.
My parents and I had a nice little talk while my older brother was acting like a five year old who didn't get his car toy. Sometimes I thought about if I wasn't the oldest one between us two.
After we were done with breakfast, I headed upstairs, wanting to go to the bathroom, but my brother beat me to it and closed the bathroom door right in front of my face.
That stupid motherfu-, sorry.
I banged on the door, "Open the door, I need to get ready!"
Connor and I became really good friends this past week. Jc, Connor and I hung out almost everyday for this past week. My brother sometimes even tagged along, which I was purely against. Because, let's face it.
