Jongin POV

Due to my father's threats, I--Kim Jongin--stays at the house until dinner. It is hard for me to face my father but for her sake, I'll endure it. Maids told me to wait at the dining table and I obligingly follow their orders.

I saw a chair that has a name engraved on it, Kai. I used that identity in high school cause that is my old nickname. Lots of dirty history hidden behind it and I never thought I would regret those moments but meeting her again made me realised my wrong deeds.

Flashback

I was 14 that time when I arrived at home late because I went to the library with her. She likes to read and I promised to protect her everyday. Undoubtly, I'm in love with her. Her smile, her laugh and her everything looks imperfectly perfect for me, like a piece of jigsaw puzzle that I lost.

I'm very young though. So innocent and immatured. A little boy who doesn't even know villains do exist. But the truth hurts as one of those villains is my own father. I regret coming back home that time, just to witness a very unfortunate incident with my own eyes. My father with a gun in his hand while my mom lies lifelessly on the floor. Bloods soaked her white long dress that I chose on their wedding anniversary.

My tears brimmed on my cheeks as I keep shouting my mom's name helplessly. My father's crews hold me from getting near when I saw my mother mouthes, "I'm sorry".

My little hope to see or probably hug my mom for the last time ruined as my father, killed my mom with a last shot echoed through the room. I fidgeted. For the first time in my life, I feel a lost. I lost a mom. I lost the good image I used to see in my father. I lost myself.

I clenched my fists and glared at my father hatefully. He shows me a cheeky smile and told his people to lock me in my room who doesn't feel like my room anymore. Home doesn't feel like home and life doesn't feel like a life anymore. How can a human be this cruel?

And when I thought everything is going to be okay, she left me with a reason that she got a new parent in China. Time passed by and I became a very coldhearted person. Isolating people who surround me, I live alone without much talking but just a heart which fulls of hate and rage.

Noticing my changes, my father forced me to live as an assassin. For the first time, it felt awkward and bad. But then, I enjoy doing it, leaving a proud smile on my father's face when he heard about it. For the old me it is such a pleasure to see those people begged for their poor lives eventhough they knew, I'll take their soul eventually and I did. No regrets.

I grew up, being a heartless man like that and no guilts haunt me until I met her again in high school. She became more beautiful and kind but I approached her too quick, too fast and too rush. I didn't even know that her parents' death were my father's doing until a warning sent to me.

Father told me that she is weak and unfits for a man like me. Yeah father, she doesn't suit me because she deserves better than a killer like me, right? I know, thats why I chose to leave her so that I won't make her suffer anymore.

So that I won't break her heart anymore, just like how this painful truth created a useless person like me.

"Kai? So, do you love your meal?", my father asked, wiping his mouth slightly.

We're currently eating our dinner meal peacefully but an awkward tense surrounds us. He tries to have a good conversation with me but fails miserably. Suddenly, he calls my old name which makes me flinched a bit and that is when he knew, he won already.

I groaned, facing him bravely as I growled, "Never ever call me that again."

"Why? It is your name by the way."

"No, it wasn't my name. Kai never ever exists in my life.", I said, denying the truth.

Father lets out a big laugh as he looks at me in disbelieve. Geez, I hate that look.

"Jongin, stop making me laugh. You're so determined, don't yaa? Now, lets be serious, I got something for you to do."

"I won't do it."

"Oh come on, you're my best fighter, it'd be such a waste. Besides, that girl is so pretty, doesn't her?", Jongin's father smirks as he mentions your name.

"She went to a coffee shop and a church today, cute.", he added.

"Okay, I'll do it. Just don't touch her."

"Now, thats my boy~! Welcome home, Kai-ahh.", his father grins, ordering his men to show me the direction of his workplace.

A tall man guides me inside, slightly forcing me as I didn't step forward much. Nothing changed here, the room is still dark as ever and weapons lay on a huge table as lots of crumpled paper were taped on the wall.

Father searches a file of my next victim as my stomach churns uncomfortably. This is really not a good idea.

"Aha! Found it~!", he squeal happily and shove the file in my hands, "Read it, boy."

Name : Oh Semin
Age : 12 years old
Family : Have an older brother, but both parents already died in an accident
Status : Dying but living a diligent life

I gasp reading it, "A kid? Seriously, father?"

"No, no, not an ordinary kid. His parents owe us a huge amount of money before they died plus he is already dying, so, it is win-win situation then.", father shrugs, acting as calm as a lake when he legit trying to make me abuse an underage boy.

"You're ordering me to kill a kid? Thats no-no."

"No, I'm not! I just want you to kidnap him so that I can use him to threat his brother."

I sigh tiredly as I felt my heart clenched with hates toward the man infront of me. I couldn't believe I used to respect this demon in disguise a lot before and that fact disgusted me.

But, Oh Semin? Why is his name feels familiar? Like I already heard it somewhere?
