Chapter 1 : Meeting

"Thank you", that is your first sentence when you met your savior. He helped you to take your teddy bear back from some older bad boys. That teddy bear is your last memory with your mother before she died. You don't know where she is buried neither do your father. They are gone. And when you thought someone can fulfill their spaces, it turned out that boy bullies you even more. Maybe that's your fate. Getting bullied.

Back to reality

You yelp when someone pulls your ponytail. That brat, again. "Kai, could you just leave me alone for today?", you asked while fixing your messy hair, tying it again properly. "Whyyy? You're my 'girlfriend' for now, don't you remember?", the male smirked.

"We're just playing games. Not being a lovey dovey couple like others", you hissed feeling uncomfortable with him calling you 'girlfriend' .

"It is just the same thing, dumb", he faced you and poked your nose slightly before grinning cheekily. Kai casually sits infront of your table and drops his firm chin on his palm, observing you revise.

"You're cute", he murmured. Huh?. Swiftly you lift your head, just to meet his which is just an inch from you. "W-what are you doing?", you stuttered. As your heart starts to race faster, you move your face away from him, wanting to hide the burning cheeks. You don't want him to take you lightly and thinks that you're easy. No, you're not that easy.

Kai saw you moving and quickly, he wraps his right arm around your neck, pulling you closer until he feels your breath on his face again. He stares at you, trying to remember every parts of your face. As he is observing, finally, his gaze drops to your lips. He licks his lips before looking into your eyes again. God, he is teasing you and you don't like it. Not a bit. Slowly, he closes the gap between both of you. Wtf, is this Kim Kai. Feeling something getting near to your lips, you close your eyes and bit your lips hard.

Waiting... waiting.. waiting.. You open your eyes and wonder why he took so long to approach.

And, unexpectedly, HE. WAS. FUCKING. CHUCKLING. AT. YOU. THAT. TIME.

"BUAHAHAHAHAHA, you should look at your anticipating face just now. Wtf are you thinking, huh?" He bursted . What is thisss. You wish the ground could just swallow you that time. Never in your life, you felt this embarassed. This is beyond a new world for you and it is cruel one. "Fuck you, Kai. Just freakin' stop teasing me.", you raged, standing up with anger.

The innocent books and pencil case got thrown by you into the bag. With a quick move, you slung your bag on your right shoulder and get out from the classroom. You can't stand staying in a same room with him anymore. The alley is quiet as everybody already left earlier and finally, you can get some spaces to cool down when you thought he is gone.

The school looks quiet and kinda scary at the late evening but you don't really care anymore because you already get used to it. Luckily, at the age of 17, the orphanage's owner gives you a green light to rent a small house near the school as you got some allowance from your 'I-dont-know-where-are-you' mom. You acknowledged, she might has a better life now.

Back to the topic, mostly you spend your leisure time here, either in the school's library or classroom. That is your daily routine but yeah, thank you to that brat , you're a mess now. You pull out a pair of earphones which is in your pocket all of this time and put it in your ears almost immediately. Skillfully, the plug was connected to your smartphone in a swift step. The loud song cools yourself a lil bit but still the thoughts of Kai just now still lingers around your head, it never left tbh.

'ARGGGHHH' , you screams internally . You throw your arms above, feeling so frustated and dumbfounded. Accidentally, you bump into someone. No, not just a one person. More like a gang of bullies. Misfortune is seriously on your side now. Everything is miserable af already now and you never thought today would be even better like this.

"I'm sorry", you apologized without even dare to look up. You're scared. Who is not scared in this situation though? You're alone with like four boys if you're not mistaken and all of them are freakin' staring you. They whisper to each other and you take that as a chance to escape as fast as you can, but one of the gang notice it. He manage to grab your wrist tightly before you can go even further.

"AAAAAHHH!", you shouted. The squad doesn't seem to be bothered with it and surround you even more, trapping you in the middle. "Hey~ You must be that new student right? Cute. What are you doing here alone? How about I give you a ride to home?", the one who is holding your hand, tighten the grip and pull you to follow him. You're trying to loose the tight hold, but however you tried, the male is still stronger than you are. You keep shrieking for help but the quiet alley doesn't show any sign that someone will come to help you.

You're shaking and tears keep streaming down your face. Scared and coward isn't the true you, but at this time, whatever can happen and you don't want to risk your life neither do your dignity. You give up on seeking for help. No one will come. No one. You just realised you have no friends to rely on. Your cold attitude makes people hardly be friend with you.

'Someone, please just help me', you weakly pray in your heart. Hoping for a savior. Your savior. Which saved you many times before. And you know he is still around eventhough he changed now. You know, he won't leave you. He will always be there when you seek for helps. Just like years ago.

*Dushh*

A hard punch successfully knocked down the person who is dragging you. You struggle to escape from his grip and succeed to pull out your arm fully when he fell to the ground.

You take few steps backward and relieved that he is here. Watching him saving you once again after few years passed by is like a miracle. He changed but you know, the old he is still there. Even after you left.

Your wobbly legs seem couldn't support you anymore as you also sedimented.

The savior managed to settle down the others 3 people before rushing to you. He kneels down next to you and carefully caressed your cheek. "Are you okay?", he asked. You couldn't contain your feel anymore. He is here. Finally. The old he.

"Jongin, I knew that you're still here. I know you're wearing a mask as Kai to hide your scars. I-I miss you so much. Please, just be yourself around me. It hurts for me to see you pretending as if you're strong enough.", you bursted to tears while wrapping your arms around him.

Yes him. The Kim Jongin. Not the Kim Kai. The one which you missed all these days after you met him again. You moved to this school with a hope that you would get to see Jongin again, but when you knew he changed into a shitty brat named Kai , your hope was broken. You tried to make him change back but he is just too determine to keep pretending as him.

"Who is Jongin? You should move on. There's no Jongin in my life anymore. I'm Kai." He muttered while shoving you away. He sounds hurt. No, he is hurting. You can feel it. And you're willing to pry his secret eventhough the truth is cruel.
