Wendy's grandparents pulled into the driveway. They came rushing in and they moved fast for a couple of old timers. They stopped in front of the kitchen table where Wendy was sitting at.
"Let us see it!" Wendy's grandma exclaimed
Wendy showed them the dragon scale. They awed over it.
"Where did you find it?" Wendy's grandmother asked
"In the forest, in a clearing." Wendy said
"Odd. I thought dragons were extinct." Grandmother said
"Me too Alice." Grandfather said
"After that legend of a dragon war we read about." Grandma Alice said
"What? What dragon war?" Wendy asked
"Ooh! John she doesn't know the tale! Can I tell it!" Grandma Alice asked
"Fine Alice." Grandpa John said
Grandma Alice took a deep breath and she began.
"Centuries ago there was believed to be a world of dragons. The dragons lived in peace and harmony. There was a council of the main elements of dragons. Earth, water, air and fire. Now, these dragons tried keeping peace between the tribes. Well except for fire; he wanted war. One day, fire got that fulfillment and war broke out between all tribes. It was a long bloodied battle and only one was to have to believed to have escaped the slaughter." Grandma Alice said
"Wow, that's brutal." Wendy said
"It is." Grandma Alice said
"But you may have just found the scale of the last dragon in existence." Grandpa John said
"I thought dragons were only in fantasy, but I guess not." Wendy said
"Of course not!" Grandma Alice exclaimed
"But thanks for coming over Grandma and Grandpa. I appreciate it." Wendy said
"No problem Wendy." Grandma Alice said
Wendy gave her grandparents a hug as they left. Wendy watched as they walked down the drive way, got in their car and drove off. Wendy sighed and looked at the large scale in her hand. Something about it seemed almost comforting which was strange. She wondered of she would ever meet this dragon, but little did she know she soon would.
