Chapter 2: Romeo Is Back

"Dear heart, I know you need to pump blood, but can you slow down when He comes by?"

*

"Give me my Romeo, and, when he shall die. Take him and cut him out in little stars! And he will make the face of heaven so fine, that all the world will be in love tonight!"

The auditorium erupted into scattered and awkward claps along with the light snore of Mr. Benson, our so very responsible drama teacher.

"Did she just ask for her lover's body to be decapitated?" Kaitlynn whisper-screamed in my ear with a mortified look on her face. My brows furrowed as I thought about it. "More or less,"

I picked up my notepad and lean towards a mini microphone stand that stood on the table before us. "Hey...Tanya, correct?" The pale girl with her brown hair tied in two buns, similar to the ones Princess Leia had, nodded her head vigorously. "My ears have not yet drunk a hundred words! Of thy uttera-"

"Save it your Romeo!" Kaitlynn screamed from her seat. Tanya's mouth immediately shut like a fly trap that just captured its prey. I nodded my head appreciatively to Kaitlynn with a grateful smile. "Anyway, Tanya. You do know this is an audition for The Phantom of the Opera, right?" Tanya opened her lips once again and lifted her arms to the air dramatically. "Alack, there lies more peril-"

"Oh hell no, you aren't! Next!"

I gave a sad wave to Tanya as our next candidate stepped onto the stage. Kaitlynn took in a sharp intake of breath and I could feel my eyes bulging out of its sockets when I finally registered who it was.

Connor. Freaking. Haysen.

"Sold!" Kaitlynn exclaimed as she stood in her seat. I tugged her harshly back down. "This isn't an auction, Lynn,"

She gave me a knowing wink. "Oh please, I bet you'd bet your heart on him if it wasn't for the fact that he already have it," a dark blush rose to my cheeks but being the actor I was, I feigned ignorance. "I have no idea what you're talking about," Kaitlynn rolled her eyes and turned her attention to the cute boy on stage. "Connor, was it? Great! So what will you be doing for us today?"

Did she just giggled?

Something deep down tells me that my assistant director already had our lead actor in mind.

I tried my best to not show any interest, although the whole world may have already known, seeing how I was creeping behind my locker door to sneak some glances at Connor who was standing by the water fountain with his friends.

How does glasses look so good on anybody?

"I'm thirsty! Let's go get some water, Winter!"

"Lynn! Stop it!"

"What? I just want to get a nice gulp of cool water,"

"I don't think that's all you want,"

Kaitlynn gave me her infamous glare and spoke under her breath for me to hear. "Why aren't you cooperating?"

I mimicked the piercing daggers she gave and hissed back. "Because I don't want to, Lynn,"

"Oh c'mon, Win! Is it that hard to just talk to him-umph!" I shoved my bag into her abdomen and she groaned in pain. "Dahell?! You don't do that when that girl is bleeding ten thousand gallons of blood from her vagina-"

"Period is never a pretty thing. I know!"

"That won't be the only ugly thing you'll know when I sock my fist to your very pretty face-"

A loud crash followed by shouts and curses erupted from the end of the hallway. The commotion was not dying and students were rushing down to see what it was all about. Even Connor seem mildly interested.

A figure squeezed himself through the crowd and started dashing towards our direction. It was David. The type of guy you'd picture first when you hear the word 'rock band'. With dark eyeliner across his eyes, pink streaks of hair tainting his jet black ones and piercings found all over his face.

He stopped in front of Connor and spoke with ragged pants. "It's...It's him again..." Connor must have understood as he urgently followed David back into the crowd with haste. I was too lost in thoughts that I did not notice the brooding expression Kaitlynn had as she clucked her tongue with annoyance. "And to think our school was peaceful for once,"

Peaceful?

"What do you mean?"

Kaitlynn had a disapproving frown on her face as she spit the three syllables she hated the most with venom dripping from her voice.

"Austin. Knight,"

Anyone here a fan of Shakespeare too? Huh? Huh? No? Aww, c'monnn, don't be shy!

Forgive me if there is any mistakes. Do tell me what you think.
