When The Weather Gets Bad

"Did you see any paranormal activity? Pick up anything on satellites? Any weird chemical compounds enter the atmosphere? ANYTHING?"

"Kara. We've checked every sensor we have. Twice. I know you're worried about Ms. Grant but we're doing the best we can!" Said Alex.

"But I should have been able to stop him! This is all my fault!"

"No, it's not Kara," said Hank, entering DEO headquarters. "We'll figure out who or what it is soon. We've got scanners looking for weird wavelengths and have sensors alerting us if anything travels over 200km per hour. We'll find them."

"Ok" sighed Kara. Sometimes she just wanted to go out and do something but all she could do was wait.

RIIINNNNGGG. Kara looked down at her phone. "Oh my gosh. It's James. Does he not get the message! Ugh!" She hit ignore and turned back to Alex.

"So what can I do while we wait for the sensors?"

RIINNNGGG. Kara's phone went off again. This time it was Winn. "Seriously! Why do people keep calling me?" She turned her phone off and looked at Alex.

"Well, you could help in the public." Replied Alex. "Save some kittens or..."

RIINNNNNGGG. "Sorry, let me get this."

"Hello?" Said Alex into her phone. "Ya, one second." Alex looked up and passed the phone to Kara. "It's for you."

"Hi Kara, it's Winn."

"What do you want? And how did you even get through to Alex's DEO phone? Doesn't it have super tight security?"

"Well ya, but that's what I do. Hack through security!" Winn smirked. "Anyways, it's not actually me who needs you. It's James."

"WINN! WHAT THE..." yelled Kara through the phone.

"She's not happy but here you go!" Said Winn tossing the phone to James.

"Hi Kara." Said James nervously.

"What do you want James?" said Kara through the phone. Winn was right, she was not happy.

"I got a picture."

"Sorry?"

"A picture. Of the person who kidnapped Ms. Grant. I though you might want to know."

"No. You didn't! Really? THANK YOU SO MUCH JAMES! I could kiss you!... umm, maybe just send the pic over."

James laughed. "I'm sending it to you now."

The DEO was buzzing. Everyone was trying to analyze the picture and pull some sort of information from it. All Kara could make out was a man, in a skin-tight yellow suit, running at a crazy speed. The marking on the front was an upside down Y, with 3 squiggly lines running through it. Kara had never seen anything like it before. And she had no idea how to stop him!

"How can I fight someone I can't see?" complained Kara to Winn and James. They had both been invited to the DEO by Alex, since they were both present at the party and had taken the picture.

"Slow him down? Make glasses that put everything in slow-mo?" Suggested Winn.

"But then she would be seeing everything delayed" said James. "And that wouldn't help her at all."

"We need to find out the source of his power! Then we can stop him." But how are we going to do that, thought Kara. She could only think of one was they could do it. "I'm going to lure him out."

"Are you crazy?"

"NO WAY! You could get hurt?"

"Wow, thanks for being so supportive!" said Kara as she rolled her eyes. She knew her friends wouldn't agree with the plan but she really didn't need them. She needed the DEO. And all of their equipment.

"Hank!" called Kara. "If I can lure this guy out, would you be able to get a reading on him? Find out his powers?"

"I think so. But Kara, we know nothing about him! Will you be safe?"

Kara smiled. She was kryptonian! What could go wrong?

"I'm in position," said Kara though her mic. She was in a park on the outskirts of National City, waiting for this guy to show up.

"Ok. Winn just sent out a fake tweet, saying he saw you at the park. It's already trending so if this guy is anywhere on the Internet he should see it." Replied Alex.

Kara stood, looking around and wondering if this guy was ever going to show up. All of a sudden it began to get cold. A big gust of wind made Kara loose her balance and she fell to the ground. The wind got stronger and she saw a yellow blur circling around her.

"Who are you?" Kara screamed as dark clouds pooled above her head.

"Your worst nightmare!" laughed a crackly voice somewhere behind her head. "I'm Windrider!"

Kara was completely trapped in his circle of wind. She had no idea how to get out or which of her powers to attack him with. The clouds above her began to rumble and spark with electricity.

"KARA!" screamed Alex through the headset. "Those clouds are going to start a lightning storm and it's going to be powerful! You have to get out of there!"

Kara needed a way out. She fired up her heat vision and spun in the opposite direction of Windrider. The spinning began to slow and Windrider came to a stop in front of Kara. His leg was all bloody and burned from where she had hit him.

"You think you can stop me?" Cackled Windrider. He shot the lightning down from the sky and Kara felt the biggest electric shock of her life. Falling to the ground she saw Windrider pick himself up off the ground, and with the last of his energy, make a wind current to carry him away. Then everything went black.
