An intrusive peak at the night sky, one protrusive glance
Met with the crescent my eyes couldn't unlatch from.
I stared.
And slowly the twirling leaves come into focus,
Noticing how the air stirs with ambient hymns,
Even the water dances to the rhythm of a broken lullaby.
Surely still, the engulfing darkness catches my attention,
Merely a refuge from the drowning vortex of repetition,
How day after nights I spend all on figures and numbers,
How night after days I spend awake in limbo.
Familiar faces now flood my mind,
Distant smiles and further laughter haunts these sequences,
Oh how sweet the memories taint my bitter mouth,
Shedding a tear once upon a time ago.
Has it been hours since I stood by the horizon?
This solace this silence this cough in my throat I can't seem to release.
Pulling back the curtains I turn my back upon the haunting background
Back to the four walls I hardly confine within anymore.
I stared.
And that's all I can do.
