"5 solar cycles" the blonde haired man with a midnight blue trench coat said. "It took 5 solar cycles to end it" he said, recalling the past. "The Extinction, Sir?" asked the black haired man wearing an enclosed suit. "Please Edward, there is no need for that kind of formality and yes I am talking about The Extinction" replied the blonde haired man "That was a very tragic time for all of us Arthur" said Edward. "Tragic? Try devastating. The casualties for both sides were too great" replied Arthur "And of course it sent us back to the Cosmic Era, losing almost all technology we had" added Edward "But at least we were able to rebuild and find new discoveries" said Arthur "True, but the human race is more separated now than it was back in old earth" stated Edward "From Ashes we shall rise" said Arthur "reborn anew" continued Edward "Do you know why our organization has that saying?" asked Arthur "because our organization was destroyed in The Extinction" answered Edward "And was re built bigger and stronger than ever before" continued Edward "very good Edward I was right to promote you Admiral back then" said Arthur. After a while they were interrupted by a small beeping sound coming from Edward's pocket. Edward reached into the pocket of his suit and pulled out a pocket watch with a chain with one end connected to his suit. "It seems my fleet need me" said Edward "I understand after all I gave the mission, until next time old friend" said Arthur then reaching his hand out to Edward offering to shake it "It was a pleasure commander" Edward thanking Arthur and shaking his hand. Edward then opened his pocket watch and there was a flash of blue and he was gone.
Just outside Sector 5 there was a fleet of imperial carriers on standby. The fleet consisted of 4 standard carriers and 1 imperial flagship. The imperial flagship is a modified version of the average carriers. Unlike the normal carriers that house 100 stinger fighters the flagship can house up to 150 stinger fighters. In order to achieve a housing space of that size the flagship sacrificed the ability to hold 500 missiles. Now the ship may only be able to hold a maximum of 250 missiles. The bay doors were located on both sides of the ship and the missile container was located at the top. Lastly the flagship is equipped with an experimental weapon called P.D.C aka plasma discharge cannon.
Out of nowhere there was a small flash of blue on the bridge of the flagship and there stood Edward holding the pocket watch in his hand. "Welcome back captain" Edward was greeted by a soft and gentle voice of a woman. Edward looked at the one who greeted him and saw a woman whose skin was a bit pale and her eyes were a shining blue. "Hello Felicity, are you here to de brief me on our mission?" Edward asked Felicity with a small smile on his face. "Yes captain" Felicity responded while bringing up the hologram. "Now then our mission is to from a defense line on the planet X-204B aka Dead man's Walk. Here we will drive back the Olympians preventing them from gaining a foothold on the planet" felicity stated. "If we lose that planet they'll easily be able to conquer the other planets in this section" Edward said. "The pulse-emitters detected 3 enemy fleets all headed for the planet as far as we know." Felicity paused then brought up the next screen showing the formations of the enemy ships. "The 1st fleet consisted of 5 battle cruisers. These ships are heavily armored, designed for frontline combat equipped with long range decimator cannons." Felicity said then zoomed in on the 2nd fleet. "This fleet consists of 7 Sun tail Skirmishers, although small these ships are fast and agile and are equipped with close range weaponry." Felicity said zooming out, overviewing the enemy arrangement. "As for the last fleet we were able to detect 3 ships but we couldn't identify the types of the ships." Felicity said with a worried expression on her face. "Felicity I know I also have a bad feeling about the last fleet but for now let us continue the briefing" Edward said trying to comfort Felicity. After a while Felicity regained herself and continued "The fleets will come in waves due to the spacing and arrangement of each fleet". "I see, they'll try to break our defenses with the battle cruisers and clean up the rest using the Sun tails" Edward said figuring out the enemies tactics. "Felicity in the event our defenses do break what is our fall back plan?" Edward asked. "In the event that does happen we will send out a pulse to Admiral Von Fisk. Von Fisk will then warp in with his fleet of Juggernauts to launch an assault on the enemies' flanks while we regroup and repair our damaged Carriers and regenerate our shields." Felicity answered then turned off the hologram "That concludes the mission briefing" said Felicity.
Edward walked to the center of the bridge there he overlooked the other operators and in front of him was a terminal with a hand scanner. Edward placed his hand on the scanner and then a hologram of the ship was displayed with the name Lancealot on it. Standing beside Edward was Felicity using a holographic display to monitor the fleet's condition and to provide critical information during the heat of combat. "Captain on the bridge!" one operator stated and then everyone stood up "Felicity activate the speakers and holograms on each ship I would like to say a few words" Edward whispered to Felicity. She followed Edward's orders and then nodded to Edward to signal that the speakers and holograms were now on. Edward took a deep breath and said "My loyal crew as you may know we are facing overwhelming odds to be victorious in this mission. This may be our hardest battle yet and it might be the bloodiest one also. I know some of you are frightened to face the enemy but I say to all of you discard that feeling of dread. All of you have survived countless battles and the outcome was always the same, WE WERE VICTORIOUS! We didn't get this far by being terrified we got this far by bravery, courage, and loyalty. So I ask all of you to follow me into battle and be victorious. WHO IS WITH ME?!" the entire fleet cheered and raised their fists in the air right after Edward's speech. "Felicity ready the warp crystal, on my mark we warp to the planet X-204B" Edward said "roger that captain, warp crystal is on 80% and rising" Felicity responded "Everyone on my mark we will warp to the planet X-204B aka Deadman's walk" Edward ordered the fleet to follow his instructions. Suddenly there was a bright blue light and the fleet vanished.
Just outside the orbit of Deadman's walk the fleet reappeared. "Captain warp was successful" said Felicity "Good now all fighters launch and form a tight barricade in front of the carriers let no enemy ship pass" Edward ordered. The carriers launched a flurry of fighters and one by one the fighters interlocked themselves with one another forming an impassable wall. "The fighters have successfully formed the barricade" Felicity informed Edward. "Now all carriers open your missile containers and on my mark fire at the enemy." Edward said confident in his plan. The carriers extended the missile containers from both sides ready to fire. "All carriers are on standby" Felicity said "Felicity only launch 25% of the Lancealot's missiles. We need to cover the carriers when they reload the containers" Edward said to Felicity. "Yes sir" Felicity simply responded. Suddenly out of nowhere the fleet herd what seems to be loud thunder coming closer to them. "Everybody ready yourselves the enemy is approaching" Edward said to the entire fleet finalizing their preparations. "There they are now –" Edward pointed at the enemy ships and said "-FIRE AT WILL!!".
