The Message ~ Law X Reader

      You carefully set the phone down. It freaked you out honestly. What was the guy talking about exactly? You look at the date. The twenty-second. A week ago exact. You rub your cheek deciding to listen to the next one.

'There's nothing... Everyone else already thinks your dead... That can't be true.... right?.... We're following their trail north of town, maybe we'll find you then?... I have to go. Just please... Hang on.'

You frown, this guy sounded worried. You still didn't have a clue what was going on but you were curious, and you liked the guys voice. So you listen to the next one.

'Hey. It's me again... So... We found the nest... And I found your jacket... I guess you're really gone.... I think I'll keep calling this number until the thought settles... I'm gonna miss you....' He breathes, pain evident in his voice. You sniff feeling sympathy for him. You were growing more curious listening to the next one.

'It's becoming more difficult to keep them back. More people are disappearing, including our own... The others are starting to panic. More are leaving the cause since youre gone. I'm honestly starting to lose my fight too... But I'm going to keep going... I can't let him down... Or you...'

You stare at your phone for a while kind of scared to listen to the next... There were three more messages to listen to. You check the time, seeing it was two o'clock. The chances of you sleeping more was low. Especially since you were listening to these messages which only piqued your interest--

The phone starts to ring and you jump, blinking at the number and recognizing it from the messages. You swallow blushing as you debated what to do. After the third ring a message is recorded. You wait a bit longe before relaxing and listening to the next one.

'Hey... Tonight was a hell of a battle. But we managed to chase them off... It was weird, they didn't seem to want to fight. Like they were testing something... I have to go. We have exams for the next three days...' You blink, remembering Kid said something about exams before you came. You shrug it off, listening to the next one.

'It's been rough, the exams and this... Mugiwara-ya got really hurt tonight. It's a good thing we've teamed up or else he'd be dead right now. I've been injured too, there was an albino one slashed my upper arm... It's odd... When I saw it for some weird reason I thought about you.... I'll... Talk to you later...'

You shift again, rubbing you cheek and listen to the next one.

'It's been quiet tonight... Maybe they also have exams?.... Kidding... But I'm thankful for the break... I miss peaceful nights like this. Before it all started... Perhaps there's an end to all this?... I don't know call you later...'

You hum looking at the newest and final message. From tonight. Curiosity swiftly made you click onto it.

'It was another quiet night. At first I welcomed it. But now I'm uneasy.... They must be up to no good... I'm worried... Are we prepared for whatever is coming?... Are there enough of us to fight it?... It's late now... I'm going to bed...' He yawns making you yawn as well. You turn off the phone and curl up. Curiosity fueling your dreams as you try to give a face to that voice.

You shuffle into the kitchen that morning yawning and starting on breakfast. As you finish making breakfast you hear Kid's alarm going off. You make him a plate before going to wake him.

"Kid, I made you breakfast, get up so you can eat before work." You shake him gently. He yawns and sits up sleepily, muttering some nonsense before looking at you.

"Breakfast... I'm coming..." He murmurs getting up and staggering slightly. You chuckle as he staggers behind you sleepily. He sits down starting to eat glancing at the other two plates. "How do you know Killer's coming over early?" He asks.

"I don't... I just thought if he showed up, breakfast would be ready for him..." You shrug. There's a knock at the door and Kid chuckles getting up and going to answer it.

"Hey Killer, I hope you forgot to eat. She made you a plate." Kid rumbles leading him into the kitchen.

"Thank you ___. I am hungry." Killer says sitting down and moving down his mask to eat. You held your breath briefly watching him.

"Heh. You okay ___?" Kid teases lightly, making Killer meet your gaze.

"I'm good!" You squeak looking down swiftly with a blush. Killer chuckles eating swiftly.

"Alright, I'm off to work, have fun you two." Kid says going to his room and getting dressed before heading out.

After breakfast, Killer helps you clean up quietly. "Alright, let's get going. There's a big town for you to see." He rumbles before leading you out.

As you took a moment to absorb the peaceful sky and light atmosphere of the town you can't help but wonder. Was there really something sinister wrecking havoc at night? Or was it just some silly story in those messages? Either way. You already knew your life was about to change.
