In a state of quietude, one might lose themselves in the vast body of their own subconscious creation.
One teenage girl, burnished by scar arrives at the steps of Briarcliffe, with nothing but her schooldress on her body, knee highs and saddleshoes.
The theatrical suspense that follows being dragged by her knees by numerous guards both dizzies and disables. Whilst being taken, her face falls limpidly to the side, catching notice of a doe-eyed passerby. Burn wounds suffice on her body, the ghosting of the flame taking her in a choking notion. As she is being dragged, blood seeps from the corner of her lips, staining her pearl-white teeth. The young girl shoots a smile in the mans direction, as he replies with a raised brow.
It is a given that one should come to cross paths in such a strained vicinity, with mad men and women at every turn. So they did, being places in a cell side by side.
He first noticed the changes in the Asylum with the fog. It grew untamably dark as nightfall approached. But he had noted that this all began with her arrival, the accompaniment of a girl with a disability so strong it became, in fact, an ability.
Little did he know the dreadful trouble that would follow upon making contact with the girl. In the dayroom he approached her, slowly, cautiously.
"You-- ever since you came here strange things have been happening. Why is that?" He inquired with furrowed brows.
"I have no idea what your speaking about." She voices, head remaining down turned with a slouched back.
"Look at me." He demands, grabbing her exposed chin in hand to upturn it. "Are you ill? Why was blood running from your lips the other day?" He questions.
"Blood? There wasnt. I'm not ill. I'm--" She motions to her scars. "A bit wounded but nevertheless." She replied through clenched teeth and with a slight lisp.
If he saw blood, but there was none, and he was sure of it, what did this imply? He surely did not know.
"How did you get those scars?" He acknowledges them, in a more subtle tone so as not to offend.
"It was a sacrifical endeavor. I dont speak of it.. But those who were involved got what they deserved. They did." She promised, tongue seething.
"Is that what your locked up for, then? You killed those people?" He wondered, his tone now more tame.
"I killed no one. It was them--" She smirked, motioning towards the wall.
A monster appeared, one slouched over in scoliosis with no facial features. It shuddered and flinched in place, making great moaning noises.
When Kit looked over, he jumped, clenching his fists near ready to attack. But alas, when he blinked his eyes it was gone. And Kit addressed it.
"How did you do that! Where did it go?" He yelled, grabbing her. Havoc on tender limb, surely.
A guard approached the two. "Hands off the patient, Walker." He demands, pushing him off.
"Where did you want it to go?" She asked, genuinely curious.
"I wanted it dead." He responded, as if common knowledge.
"Well then there it is, in death. The eternal quiet place." She giggled, looking up at him behind her bangs. Her eyes were bloodshot, but still enticing nonetheless.
"You're crazy." He shook his head, clenching his jaw.
"Arent we all?" She replied with a snicker.
"Notice the power you weild. That power you shall have in your own reality.. For the dream of this life must end. But not, however, the dreamers within it. I see the madness long growing in your soul, and you will make something of it. Whatever you please, with those who are deserving. Take note of this, walker." She finished, before getting up and trailing away. Her hospital gown lifting with the breeze behind her.
Leaving him confused, speechless, feeling as though he was truly losing it. What did it mean? How was this possible? But surely, if little green men were possible, this must be as well. Was she one of them? The extraterrestrials? He would only have to find out.
