"So, how did we escape?" The Master looked at Zly, who was shaken with fear and shock, and picked up the Mocha Latte that had been handed to him by the Barista. "Thank you. Now, when the Yards engines exploded, they tore a hole in the fabric of reality. Everything around it was sucked in, crushed and destroyed. However, we had me. The initial rupture of the engines signalled that I should prepare to make us safe. Luckily I had foreseen such an event, and had already made preparations. I had set up a rudimentary teleport link to the cargo hold. It was nearest room to the main engines, and so I gathered, the safest."
Zly looked slightly puzzled, through his dazed state. "The safest?!"
"Yes. Naturally, the best place to be. The eye of the storm. As it happened, the cargo was distributed throughout the time vortex. There must be household objects flying through, appearing in reality occasionally. And so I thought to grab this." and with that, the Master gestured to the slightly singed cyan sofa they were sitting on. May suddenly understood, "The table lamp, how I got to the ZISP."
"So there's a mass of table lamps, sofas and other assorted household objects materialising throughout time and space, before flying off again?" The Master nodded, affirming Zly's conclusion. He stiffly stirred his cup and peered into its misty brown contents.
"Where's the Doctor?" The Master looked up into Zly's concerned face. "Tell me where he is." But the Doctor was nowhere to be seen. "Where is he. Tell me where he i-"
"I don't know!" the Master's exasperation was clear in his voice. "He was, he must have, I think that." He gathered his thoughts and emotions, and continued. "The most likely possibility is that he was destroyed in the time vortex." Silence fell around the trio. After a while, May asked another question.
"Where are we?"
"Copenhagen I think. Earth." He sipped at his coffee. The other two looked at him hopefully. "What? Did you think I was going to help you out of here? Just because I am a friend of the Doctor's does not make me a nice, or even good, person." He downed the dregs of his drink. "Find your own way home." With that he walked out of coffee shop, and disappeared amongst the city crowd. May and Zly were left looking at each other, lost on another world. But they both could only think of one thing. Him. Their thoughts wanted, hoped, prayed that he was safe. But they would not find out till is was too late, what terrible fate had befallen their comrade. Their Doctor.
