After 15 minutes of loud rock music filling the car, not my favorite but Tara likes it, we arrive at some club.
I scrunch my nose at the "hole in the wall" type of place and turn to Tara.
"Wow pretty classy" I giggle and jump out of the car, slamming the door.
"Don't judge a book by it's cover, Al" She squeaks, running up to the front doors and I follow her. There's a bouncer but he doesn't seem to bother checking any ID's... just like Tara had said.
We walk in and the smell of sweat and vodka fill my nose and I cringe mustering out a simple "ew". The place is crowded and the dance floor is full of college students grinding on each other, spilling their glasses of alcohol all over each other.
Tara pulls me up to the bar, grabbing the last two open seats.
"What do you want?" She asks me. "It's on me"
"Cherry vodka" I answer and she frowns.
"You alwaaays get that!" She emphasizes the always and orders something else for me but I can't make out what it is considering how loud the music is. I recognize the beat of the song but I can't think of the words as it begins to play. I hum along tapping my foot against the bar stool as I see Tara already chatting up some blonde. I roll my eyes smirking to myself. Typical Tara to bring me out then leave me on my own.
I sit at the bar feeling alone when ironically there's people shoulder to shoulder throughout the room. I play with the straw in my drink and sit there, minutes passing quickly. I sip on my drink and sigh.
"Here you go" A brunette, cheery waitress sets a glass of cherry vodka in front of me.
I furrow my eyebrows in confusion and she must read my mind because she points to the back corner of the bar. "It's from him" She smiles and starts cleaning up a glass of beer that was spilled. I quickly turn and scan the room, my eyes darting to the back corner at the familiar curly haired boy.
"Oh my.." I muster as he glances at me flashing his cheeky smile that show his dimples. I give him a small, surprising smile and turn back around. Why is he here..? Did he know I'd be here? No.. it was a coincidence, that's all.
"Hey there, long time no see."
I didn't even hear him walk up, not that I would anyways. It's so loud.
I turn around give him a weak smile. "Hey, didn't know you'd be here.." I almost smack myself for saying that.
He nods, chuckling. "So.. are you alright?" He leans againts the bar next to me.
Am I okay..? Yeah, I am. I don't miss Derek, I tell myself.
"Yeah, I am. I don't even miss Derek.. and not only cause I'm on the verge of being drunk" I smirk. Harry laughs softly, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Well, I'm glad you're alright."
"Thanks." I nod as a guy calls out Harry's name. He turns around and puts up his index finger as if to say 'one minute'. He turns to face me again and shrugs.
"I'll maybe see you later, Alivia." I give him a small wave as he walks away towards his group of friends. I sigh, and play with my bracelet as I look around the room for Tara. I finally spot her on the dance floor, grinding against the blonde guy from before. She catches my gaze and waves me over. I shake my head and give her a small smile.
I can tell she groans before walking over here, barefoot.
"Aliviaaaa, come on! Please!" She pouts her lip out and grabs my wrist. Before I can answer, she's already pulling me back over to where she was dancing. I glance at the blonde guy and Tara smiles. "This is Jake!" She yells over the music.
"Hey, Jake. I'm Alivia." I smile softly and he returns it.
A few minutes in Tara and Jake are already back to dancing, all over each other. I look away awkwardly and Tara pulls me over to her.
"Just dance!" She rolls her eyes, swaying her hips against Jake.
