I glance around, hoping nobody else can see me. I'm terrible at dancing but since it's basically a mob of college students grinding, it really isn't that big of a deal.
I slowly copy, or at least try to copy, Tara's movements as she giggles softly.
"You're doing great." She lies.
I laugh and sway my hips in a circular motion, closing my eyes. I let the music take over me and I improvise a little bit.
"There you go!" Tara applauds me. Seconds later I feel someone's hands wrapping around my hips as they pull me into them. My eyes shoot open and I turn around quickly as I pull their hands off of me.
"I don't wa-" I begin to say but stop and my jaw drops realizing who it is. "W-what are you doing here?!" I start to stutter and shove Derek back slightly. "And don't fucking touch me!" I add, getting angrier.
He shakes his head, laughing. "You just don't get it, do you?" He gives me a smirk as he snakes his arm around my lower back. In one quick movement, he's pulled me into him. "You're not leaving me, Alivia. There's nothing you can do about it.." He mumbles into my ear. I can tell he's had a bit to drink and I know that won't help the situation.
I turn my head to glance at Tara but she hasn't noticed Derek or maybe she's too drunk to care. Either way, I'm a little aggravated by her.
"What? Are you looking for that punk boy to come to your rescue again?" He says in a soft tone with sarcasm, but I can tell he's clenching his teeth.
"No" I finally push Derek off of me and slip away through the crowd as quickly as I can. I look back, Derek only a few feet behind me.
"Excuse me. Excuse me. Excuse me." I mumble, making my way through the mob of people. When I look back for the second time, Derek isn't anywhere to be seen. Part of me is relieved but the other is still tensed and nervous.
"Hey, Alivia!" Harry walks over with a beer in his hand. "What's going on?"
"Oh, um.. nothing" I force a smile. Harry doesn't need to know Derek's here although I'm sure he'll find out soon enough.
He rolls his eyes. "He's here, isn't he?" I watch him scan the room and he stops reaching near the back entrance doors.
"Stay here" He starts to walk away but I grab his arm.
"Harry, don't!" I plead. "I really don't want you to get in a fight and that's bound to happen if you go over to yell at him!"
"What? You don't think I can defend myself?" I notice a tad of annoyance in his voice.
"I do but I don't want him to hurt you.. or you to get in trouble because of me" I cry out as he pulls out of my grip, walking towards Derek.
I watch Derek look around the room, probably looking for me. But when his eyes land on Harry, his muscles tense and fists clench at his sides. I bite my lip, anxiously waiting to see what Derek will do.
I watch as a smirk spreads across Dereks face as Harry reaches him and I know then, somebody is going to end up hurt tonight and I just can't stand the fact that it'll be because of me.
I hesitate to run over to try and stop their already blood rising argument but I'm frozen. My eyes are locked on Harry and I gasp as he takes a blow to the face. He stumbles back, wiping the blood that's already dripping from his nose.
Harry's P.O.V.
I fall back into a few people and one blonde girl screams when my hand knocks over her beer and it spills all over her dress.
"What the fuck?!" She shrieks, staring at her dress.
"I'm so-" I begin but Derek has already punched me in the abdomen, giving off a sharp pain. I groan, teeth clenched.
"You fucker" I suck it up and slam him against the door, and his eyes practically bulge out of his head.
"What are you gonna do.. pretty boy?" He chuckles. I clench my fist and punch him, leaving a small gash across his face, but it just barely phases him. Moments later he's got me on the ground. Not gonna lie, beating the shit out of me.
But then everything goes black and I think... think I can faintly hear Alivia calling out my name.
