I started crying, and I ran downstairs and out of the house. I was heartbroken. I had broken my promise to my dad. This was exactly what he didn't want. Anything but this. I was a liar. Thoughts swarmed my mind as I ran down the dirt path to the river. I sat down on a rock, and stared at the cool, blue water rushing downhill. I heard Ollie's footsteps behind me. He sat down next to me on the ground.
"Honey, it's okay. We'll get through this," he said. "You don't understand," I said between sobs, "I promised my dad I wouldn't get pregnant like my mom did." "I know, I feel like I promised him that too." "You don't understand," I cried. "Understand what?" he asked, "We're in this together, Allie."
"You don't understand what it's like to lose someone so suddenly. To be left alone. To have to deal with a loss, and then this. You'll never understand."
"I do understand," he said. I was confused. "Allie, when I was 10, my little sister Gabby was diagnosed with leukemia." I had no idea he had had a sister. I was shocked. "We lost her 3 months later. It took me years to recover. I'm just now becoming happy again. Allie, I know what it's like to lose someone. I went through it too."
"Ol-Ollie, I had no idea. I'm so sorry." "Don't apologize, it's not your fault you didn't know. Just remember, you're never alone. Now, you're only 2 weeks pregnant, so let's give this one more month to sink in, then we'll tell everybody, okay?" I nodded. It sounded like a great idea.
He went home, and we continued on like nothing had happened for the next month. I was beyond nervous. After a month had passed, it was Thanksgiving. Oliver's family had invited my dad and I over for dinner. We decided that I would tell my dad 3 days before, then Oliver's parents on thanksgiving.

November 18th
I came home from school, knowing that I needed to tell Dad today. When he came in from work at 7, I asked him to come in the living room. "Dad, I have something I need to tell you."
"Anything, honey," he said as he sat down on the small sofa. "Dad, I love you, and I never meant to break a promise with you, but," I stuttered, "I'm pregnant." My heart broke when I saw his shocked face.
I began crying. "Honey, don't cry, it's okay," he said. "Are you going to kick me out?" I asked. "Of course not! Why would I do that to my baby girl?" I was relieved to hear him say that. "Dad, I'm really really sorry," I said. "I know, I know," he said. He thought for a minute then said, "Is Oliver the father?" I nodded.
He had just started to trust Oliver and now that all went away. "Allie, I'm not sure I can trust him if he broke a promise too." My heart sank. I started to cry harder. "Please, stop crying and listen to me," he said firmly.
I stopped and looked at him. "Allie, I will support you no matter what, but I don't want you hanging around with Oliver until I'm sure he'll always support you. "He will," I started, but Dad interrupted me, "Allie, I really just can't trust him right now. You can see him at school and he can join you at doctor's appointments if he wants, but I think he should have some time to think. I nodded.
"I'll talk to his parents about this on Thursday at dinner. Do they know yet?"
I shook my head. "We were planning on telling them then." My dad nodded.
Now I just had to wait until Thursday. I was nervous as to what his parents would say. I had no idea what they would think.
