October 2nd

The beginning of my junior year was much better than the end of my sophomore year. Oliver and I had agreed to take things slow and wait to tell anyone about our relationship. I feared that the information would eventually get to my dad and I wanted to wait until at least the new year to tell him.

Still, I loved being with him and there was no doubt in my mind that it was worth it. However, I woke up on October 2nd feeling down, since it was my mom's birthday and it was hard not to think about her. Luckily, during lunch, Hallie asked Oliver and I if we wanted to go to the town fall festival with her that night. I gladly agreed. I wanted something to take my mind off of everything.

That night, I put on a t shirt and some jeans, said goodbye to my dad, and hopped in the truck. I drove into town and met Hallie and Oliver outside of the festival. We headed in.

The festival had lots of games and snacks and was set up by the high school. It was a night where most of the town gathered to have a good time.

We played games, ate food, and laughed for hours. At 9 o'clock, I decided to go get a snack. Oliver came with me, while Hallie and some new guy she had been talking to stayed at the ring toss.

He looked beautiful in the dark, and we smiled at each other. It was cold out, and he noticed me shivering. "Cold?" he asked. I nodded. He took off his jacket and put it around my shoulders. "Thanks," I said.

We both got some popcorn and sat down on a bench to eat it. It felt nice to be alone, away from the crowd.

"You look beautiful Allie," Oliver said to me.

"As do you," I replied with a smile.

He leaned in for a kiss, and I joined my lips with his. As we pulled apart, I saw his eyes glisten and I leaned back in for another one. Finally, I pulled away and looked at him.

"I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too."

"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS ARE DATING AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN TELL ME!" Hallie screamed excitedly when we met back up with her.

"What makes you think that?" I asked, confused as to how to find out.

"Because I just saw you guys make out on that bench for like 3 hours."

"Hallie, we kissed twice," I responded.

"So you guys are dating?"

"Yeah, we are," Ollie responded, holding my hand.

"Yay! I can't believe you finally got a boyfriend," she said.

"Yup," I said, laughing.
