A MaiChard Oneshot

Maine wasn't feeling herself today. She had that feeling that something was about to happen in class and she had no idea what it was. She was already running late and traffic was such a bitch.

"Shit, late na ko. Patay ako kay Prof. Jenny. Bakit ko pa kasi nameet yung cute na lalaki sa coffee shop kagabi." She ranted to herself.

Last night, she was rushing a term paper for her class when a hot guy accidentally slipped and spilled coffee all over the book that she was using as reference.

"Oh shit. Sorry." The guy said when his coffee toppled over

"Ano ba kasi..." she stopped mid sentence when her eyes saw the clumsy hot guy. "Um. Ok lang yun. Accidents happen. I just... I can't use the papers until they dry up kasi baka mapunit but I really have to finish my term paper..." she said while trying to dry up the wet and coffee stained papers

"Let me make it up to you. Baka matulungan kita sa term paper mo." He looked at her and their eyes met for the first time. The world around them suddenly slowed down and everyone seemed to have magically vanished when their eyes met. "Richard." The guy extended his hand.

"Nicomaine." She shook it and in that moment, she experienced a jolt that she has never experienced before.

Her grip on the steering wheel tightened as she remembered the connection she had with the handsome stranger. "Shit." That was all that she could say at that moment.

When she arrived in class, she was already 15 minutes late but apparently their professor was nowhere in sight. "Anne, nasan ang Dragon Lady?" she asked her bestfriend.

"Wala. Nagbakasyon na sa US. Palibhasa finals na lang tayo tsaka term paper. Graduation na next week." Anne said disdainfully. "May sub daw. Magrereview lang satin for the finals. Sabi nung may sched kahapon gwapo daw yung sub. At least diba? Maganda dinulot nung pag aabsent nung dragon." Anne and Maine laughed.

"Goodmorning." The substitute professor entered gracefully. "Sorry, I was late. Napuyat lang." Everyone was surprised with the sub because he didn't look anywhere near the age of what a professor should look like.

But, no one was as surprised as Maine when she saw the teacher strutting inside the room. "Shit!" she exclaimed loudly. It was loud enough for the professor to notice. Their eyes met then widened in shock. It was Richard.

Richard was quick enough to hide his surprise. "Is there something wrong? Miss..." He pretended to not know her then looked at the seat plan. He knew her name, but not her last name. That was embarassing, considering the sudden turn of events last night. "Mendoza?"

"Wala sir." She stopped herself from saying his name out loud. "May ipis. Carry on." She burried herself on her desk trying not to embarrass herself even more.
