Chapter 13
Waking up 4 hours later, Eleanor stretched out her stiff back. She silently walked into the living room and noticed Sasha and Eric cuddled up on the couch. They looked so cute together, and so lost into each other watching a romantic movie. Eleanor smiled longingly at them before noiselessly dragging her hungry self to the kitchen. Her plan was to be as quiet as possible to give the two lover birds a chance to bond some more. Unfortunately, her efforts of silence were fruitless since her shaky hands let her down.
"BANG!"
"What the heck was that!?" Sasha lamented, as Eric hurriedly made his way into the kitchen, with Sasha right at his heel.
The sight they walked into had them both bustling into laughter, clutching their stomachs. Eleanor was spread out on the kitchen floor, legs apart, and hands on the floor behind her, to steady her weight, and to top it all, milk dripping down her face, the empty cup lying carelessly beside her. She looked about ready to cry, which only accelerated the others’ laughter, until she suddenly burst into tears. They immediately ceased their laughing fits and rushed over to help her up.
Eleanor’s mood swings had started kicking in more and more each waking day, and it was usually a tag of war to get her to calm down. It took them a whole hour to make her feel better with Eric cradling her on his lap, and Sasha rubbing her back soothingly. Once she had finally settled down, they got back to watching movies, but shortly after that, Ariel woke up, causing the house to become active again.
There was a lot of activity going on all through the late afternoon, in the name of dinner preparations. Eric and Sasha kept stealing glances at each other, when they thought Eleanor or Ariel were not paying attention. Little did they know that Eleanor was discreetly watching their every body language, trying to decipher (make sense of) what exactly had happened between those two within those four long hours. Had they done the deed? It sure looked like it, from the way Sasha kept blushing, and the way Eric kept licking his lips appreciatively. Both their eyes looked glazed over, as if they kept replaying what had taken place earlier on.
They had dinner rather early, since Sasha and Ariel would leave soon. She wanted to give Eleanor and Eric ample time to mend their bond. She knew that Eleanor needed privacy to explain everything to her brother. She was not sure if Eleanor would tell Eric everything that happened, but she knew she would always be there for her, and support whatever decisions she made.
Eleanor and Ariel made gagging sounds when Eric kissed Sasha who blushed, turning a bright red. Ariel just had to start singing, “Mommy and Uncle Eric, kissy, kissy kissing” as loudly as she could. Sasha put her hand over Ariel’s mouth who kept mumbling loudly, while her mother dragged her home, her whole body turning beetroot. Eleanor burst out laughing, as tears rolled down her cheeks, connecting at her chin to flow down her neck in synch, at Sasha’s embarrassment, while Eric struggled to cover up his amusement, which only made his face bloat out like a choking victim, and turn red.
Their laughter soon vanished when they looked at each other, both acknowledging the fact that it was time for “the serious talk.” Eleanor gradually shut the door, sighing in preparation for her explanation.
