Epilogue
“Good morning, my beautiful wife?” Jake whispered as he showered Eleanor with endless kisses all over her face. Eleanor giggled like a little girl.
It had been five years since they re-met and they had kicked off pretty well. It was love at first sight, and Jake’s love for Eleanor just kept on escalating as the days went on by.
“How do you manage to look more and more beautiful every single day?” He asked her in awe.
Eleanor smiled adoringly at him, and whispered, “I love you so much Jake.”
Her eyes glazed over with unshed tears. Ever since he had come back into her life, it had been nothing but more and more joy, happiness and contentment. For that, she was so grateful, and felt entirely in love with him, and she never imagined that her love for him would surpass what she already felt toward him, but each day, it seemed to double. It was scary and almost painful, and she could not stand to be away from him, even just for a day. They made out for a little bit before the kids came bounding up into their bedroom.
“Mommy, daddy” Little Jayden just about yelled enthusiastically.
He was two years old, and was always the first to invade his parents’ privacy. Elma, on the other hand, was always a bit reserved when it came to rushing into her parents’ room. She knew better than to burst into their room. She had once seen what her little eyes should never have. That had been her cue never to rush into mommy’s room. Elma was eight, and had grown up into such a beautiful and intelligent young girl. Besides, she had better things to do, like study math and reading her novels. She was already taking fifth grade classes.
Twelve-year-old Ariel was in the eighth grade, and Seth, Eric and Sasha’s son was two. Those two had been happily married as well for the last five years. There was no love lost between those two. Eric was still as hilarious as always, pulling his random dumbfounded face. The most comical so far being the time Sasha’s water broke. It was even worse than when Eleanor was having Elma. Everyone was amused he could still pull such a face.
Eleanor was content with life, happily working with top movie producers, photography and acting on the side. Jake had served most of his time in the marines, and seldom left. He would only leave during extensive emergencies; otherwise, he was a full time doctor at the Presbyterian hospital where he had first met Eleanor.
Eric was an actuary, and Sasha maintained her spa, which celebrities frequently swarmed. All of them had fancy jobs, but they vowed to put family above it all. They never once disintegrated their extended family and they went for vacations together as a huge happy family, with Ariel as the eldest child.
Eleanor’s parents had long disappeared from the surface of the earth. They had appeared only once to announce that they had realized that they did not want to be parents, and could not be handle parental or grandparental responsibilities. They had retired to the Caribbean’s to enjoy the remaining years of their lives.
Eleanor and Eric had been glad that they did not have to deal with their parents anymore. It was another thing knowing they existed, but did not care enough to be there for important occasions in their children’s lives, but now it none of it mattered, since they at least had the decency to tell the truth.
In reality, that did not change anything because Eleanor and Eric had literary raised themselves without parental guidance. They turned out successful, which was a miracle. It was yet again one of those frantic days when everyone was rushing around trying to pack up all the essentials.
Their close family of eight was leaving for a three-month cruise, with no other kind of business, apart from strictly family business. They had all agreed that they could all surely use a vacation, and bonding time. It had been a while since they had had a whole three months to themselves. This felt like old times, and Eleanor was happy to be a part of this wonderful family.
