Blinding light and grinding sounds surrounded me as I awoke from my sleep for the first time feeling disgruntled. I feel so alive and wanting to get working, like being asleep for too long. The sounds were like birds singing and the ocean breaking against rocks. I felt complete.

I looked up as my master held me tightly in his grasp, hoping and praying that they were someone special. Some of my kinsmen had famous owners, such as Rick Riordan, Shakespeare, George Washington, and many more. Some of my other kinsmen, the unfortunate ones, had a girl whose snot was dripping down her nose, a girl lazing around, etc.

I really want my master to be cool and awesome. Suddenly, while fantasizing about a good owner, I heard a very high pitched, lady-like giggle.

The moment I saw his face, I nearly shouted out in horror. He had pigtails, long and curled eyelashes, and he definitely was not a guy. I knew that my face was contorted into a grimace as my hopes and dreams washed down the drain. I should probably stop calling her a he because she's not a boy.

She held me tightly in her hand as she started dragging me sideways. Is she using me as a sword? Why is he, no she, writing so slowly? I do not understand at all. She pressed hard on the paper and my point broke. It hurts, you know. The pain is indescribable to humans.

She got the sharpener and placed me inside. It was a classic design in which the user would have to spin the handle. The delightful sensation I had only mere minutes ago returned as she was sharpening me. She actually handled me carefully, as if not wanting to get me broken. That was a shocking revelation. (They taught us in pencil school that girls are brutal to pencils.)

Then, she got on doing whatever she was doing. I can't wait to see what she's done although it would most likely be gibberish.

She turned me upside down and rubbed my head on to the paper. It's not easy to describe to humans what it feels like to erase something but we feel all powerful because we can erase the mistakes and turn over a new leaf. Imagine having the power to make a clean slate, righting wrongs, correcting errors. It's like you're able to scratch a really bad itch.

She continued doing those things for another half hour, kind of like a cycle. Write, erase, write, and sharpen.

She stayed silent while gazing at what she did. I could tell she was almost done because the contented look on her face told me so.

As my master and I were cheek to cheek, I saw what she's done. And I almost gasped in awe, which I tell you, a pencil does not do.

I was at least expecting a dreadful back to back essay or something about her day in school, but what I saw made me understand her more. She was such an astounding artist.

It was a picture of a unicorn farting rainbow gas, a smiling cloud, and a frowning sun.

It's not what I would normally call art, but this weird and funny drawing just looks adorable.

I have a feeling that this is the start of a new friendship.
