Adrian was sat on the corner of Kate’s bed. He held his hands in his lap and his eyes were searching the room. Kate was rummaging through her school bag and pulled out her history notes and her notepad. She sat beside Adrian and showed him the notes she’s been taking since the start of the year. “I know you’re behind on our lessons, but I’d be happy to share my notes with you to help you catch up.”

“Why don’t you and your sister get along?”  Another outburst question, why is it he only asks these questions at her house.

Kate raised an eyebrow to Adrian to show she was not impressed by his question. Adrian’s facial features remained the same. No sign of regret for asking just his lip formed in a straight line. His eyes were locked on hers.

“Is it just at my house you like to test my temper?” her eyes pierced through him. She wanted him to know how much he has pissed her off.

Adrian inhaled deeply through his mouth and exhaled loudly from his nose. “You’re very strange.”

Kate tried to stay mad at him but from his comment she couldn’t fight the laugh that escaped from her lips. She stormed over to the head of her bed and grabbed one of her pillows. She began hitting him repeatedly over the shoulder. She heard him laughing and her stomach was aching from laughing so much. “Stop making me laugh when I’m pissed at you!”

Out of nowhere Adrian reached his hand up and grabbed her arm. Kate’s eyes widened as a flashback came to her mind of the day at the lake. When the merman reached up his hand and dragged her down to the water. She felt like she was re-living that day. Adrian got her to the floor, she began kicking out her legs and slapping Adrian in the face. She felt like she was drowning, she was scared to open her mouth in case a rush of water would fly in her mouth and drown her lungs. Kate screamed from terror at the top of her lungs. Adrian moved away from her and looked over her, his hand was cupped around her cheek to try and make her calm down.

Kate’s eyes were forced shut, she didn’t want to see the merman’s fangs which reached below his chin.

The bedroom door flew open, “What the hell is going on here!?” Allison barked, when she saw Adrian practically on top of Kate, without hesitation she grabbed him by the arm and pushed him to the corner of the room. Allison went to her sisters aid to try and calm her down.
