It was early in the afternoon, and Malorie and I were walking home from school. "Hey, Cupcake," Malorie said. "Yeah, Sprinkles?" "I love you, Cupcake, more than anything in the world. Don't grow up too fast, babe. I'd hate to see you married at 16," she confessed. "Sprinkles you know that if I got married this young, it would be to you. And, our birthday isn't for another two weeks! What are you even saying?" "It's just that...every year on our birthday, you always want to do something extravagant that makes you feel like a real adult. It's like I'm the only one in the world who cares about our well-beings around here, so I always talk you out of it. But, this year, since we're gonna be 16, I kind of want to do something wild, too...," she said nervously. "Well that's great!" I cheered. "Except..." "Except what?" she responded. "I don't want us to turn into corrupted children. Why don't we just go out for dinner with our families, and have a sleepover?" I suggested. "That sounds perfect," she agreed. We walked home holding hands. I walked her to her door. "Kisses!" we both shouted. "Mwah, mwah!" Bye, Cupcake!" "Bye, Sprinkles!" I walked across the street to my door and looked over at her house. "I love you, too, Malorie- Vanessa Swenick."
