The next morning I stood up, feeling slightly sick, but that was probably just because I was about to tell my mom. So I got ready and headed downstairs, my bag already over my shoulders. "Mom?" I asked, going into the kitchen. "Yes, sweetie?" She answered, handing me my lunch. "Okay, uhm...listen, I've gotta tell you something." I said. Katelyn entered the kitchen, still looking pretty sleepy. "What is it?" Mom asked. "It's uhm...it's..." I tried but I couldn't find the words. "Is it about a guy?" She asked. "Well uhm...kinda..." I said. "But not really." Katelyn suddenly seemed really alarmed and then looked over to me with an encouraging smile. By now, mom had a strange look on her face. "It's uhm...it's kinda about a guy but actually...I...mom, I don't like guys, you know...I like girls." I said. "Huh." She said. "Huh?" I asked, not knowing what she meant. "That's...new." She said. "New, but certainly not bad, right?" Katelyn asked. She looked really tense, even though she smiled at mom.

"No." Mom said. My heart stopped for a second. "W-what?" I asked. Katelyns smile had vanished. "What do you mean, 'no'?" Katelyn asked. "That's nothing normal. That's disgusting, Krystal. Girls should like boys and not girls, that's pathetic." She said. And with that she went out of the kitchen.

I could not believe what had just happened. Tears started filling my eyes, I felt like the ground underneath me was crumbling. Katelyn put her hand on my shoulder and opened her mouth to say something. "Don't." I said, pulling away. "Krys." Katelyn said. "Please, don't say anything now." I said again, pulling my backpack onto my shoulder and heading for the door. "She'll be okay with it, soon!" Katelyn called after me, but I already closed the door and went to Lydia, who was already waiting for me in her car. "Are you alright?" Lydia asked. "Yeah sure, allergies." I said, wiping my eyes.

We drove to school and from there on my day did not get any better. First of was P.E. and our coach decided that we had to basically run for an hour straight. I'm not really a sportsperson so after the lesson ended I was just a panting mess. Afterwards was a Chemistry lesson were Mr. Harrison decided to do a surprise test, which I obviously fucked up, because I am no good in all kinds of science. The next two hours we had Maths where we wrote a two hour long test and same here, I totally fucked up. Afterwards we finally had a lesson I liked, Literature was one of my favorite subjects, but today I could not really concentrate. My mind was drifting away all the time. And I was also in bad temper, this whole day had been a disaster.

"Hey, Krys!" Stiles whispered next to me. I turned to him, Mrs. Blackery was writing on the blackboard anyways. "What?" I asked. "So I thought about asking Lydia for a date, what do you think?" He explained. "I...don't think I'm the most qualified person in this room to answer this question." I replied, trying to focus on the lesson again. "What do you mean, you're not the most qualified person? You are her best friend." Stiles said. I felt myself losing my temper, I just did not have the patience to explain everything to him, or rather to lie to him, so that he didn't find out. "I mean exactly what I've just said." I snapped turning back around once more. "Okay, geez, are you on your period or something?" Stiles asked, slightly annoyed. That was it, something inside of me snapped. I turned around and slapped Stiles straight in the face. "How dare you ask that!" I said, not even trying to keep my voice low anymore, since everyone's attention was on us anyways. "You can't possibly understand how much I-or every woman in general-hates to be asked this fucking question. You're such an asshole, do you now that Stiles?!" I said, not able to control my emotions anymore. This was a shitty day from the beginning, and nothing in this world could make it better any more, so why not letting out my anger, so that I could maybe feel a little better.

Stiles just stared at me, holding his cheek. "Ms. Ambers?" Mrs. Blackery said. "Ah forget it!" I said, collecting my things and storming out of the classroom. I heard footsteps behind me but I didn't turn around. I went out of the building and sat down on the grass outside, heavily breathing and shaking with anger.
Someone sat down next to me. I looked up, just to see Lydia with a concerned look on her face. She put one hand on my arm. "Hey, are you okay?" She asked softly. "Yeah, I just...kinda lost my temper. It's just...I don't know, this is just a shitty day, and I couldn't keep it together anymore." I could feel my anger turning into tears. "First I had an argument with my mom and then P.E. and those fucking tests I totally screwed up..." My voice broke. "And then Stiles with his dumb questions...I just couldn't keep myself together anymore..." I sobbed, pressing a hand over my mouth, to stop it. Lydia put her arm around me and I let my head fall onto her shoulder. "It's okay, sometimes you just have a bad day. And if it makes you feel any better, I didn't really have a clue in the Chemistry test either." She said, smiling at me. I started laughing. "There you go, already smiling again." Lydia said, her own smile growing even bigger.

I wiped my tears away. "Thank you, I needed that right now, you now, just getting it all off of my chest." I said, already starting to feel better. Then I realized something. I did not really want to be at home now, now that the weekend was ahead. "Lyd?" I asked. She looked at me questioningly. "Can I maybe stay at your house over the weekend? I don't really wanna be around my mom now." I said. "Do you want me to ask what happened between you two?" Lydia asked. I shook my head. "No, not really." I said. "Okay, then I won't." She said, smiling at me again. "And of course you can stay." She added.
"So...what do you think about going shopping? You know, to get your mind off of things?" She suggested with the usual excitement in her voice. I actually did not feel like it, I was already exhausted, but she wanted to do this for me, so I agreed.
