I got home later that night and all the lights were off. I thought it was strange that my dad had not yet come home from his job, but I went in the house none the less. In the back of the house i heard a rumbling.
"Hello?" I called into the dark of the house.
No reply. Of course. 'There's probably some wacko stealing our stuff' i thought. I crept back to the kitchen to find an empty bag of jalapeno potato chips, which is a luxury my family had never experienced. As i looked around I saw no other people and nothing was out of place or stolen and yet the back door was hanging wide open for all the thieving neighbors convenience. Eventually I passed the noise of as a lowly raccoon.
"Honey I'm Hooome!" A voice bellowed into the house.
That of course was my dad. He always needed an entrance that he felt was as extravagant as he was, yet nobody else felt that way about his entrances.
"Hia dad! What kept you?" I said as I turned to face him.
"Sorry I'm home late, there was a hold up at work. So how was your day at work?"
"Oh it was fine. Some creeps were watching me work, but they shouldn't be a huge problem. If they bug me again I'll just call security."
"I'm going to head to bed. Don't stay up too late. Remember you have school tomorrow..."
"Don't worry dad. I was just about to head up. G'night!"
My dad waves his best wishes as he walked up the stairs and I was left yet again in the dark living room with the T.V. blaring some cartoon I had on as background noise while I thought. After a bit I switched the T.V. off and stumbled upstairs in the dark.
"Good night ninjas in the dark." I half whispered, half spoke down the stairs, a slight chuckle of amusement of my goofiness escaped my lips before I stumbled into my room.
