If only Tristan had said he wanted to be friends, I would have tried for a friendship, my first friendship. But he had to say he liked me, like more than a friend. And that scares me a little. Actually a lot. A couple of days passed since I told Tristen I hated him. After school today, Friday, I went straight to my room. I ignored my uncle who ignored me, and I gave my aunt a disgusted look who had given me one first. I heard the phone ring, from all the way in the kitchen. A few seconds after it stopped ring, my Aunt yelled my name. "Rose!" my Aunt yelled shrilly from downstairs. " How did this person get our phone number? They are asking for you." A phone call for me? No way. I walked halfway downstairs where my aunt meet me with the phone. " Make it quick." she said. "Hello?" the voice on the other side of the phone asked as soon as I got to my room. "Tristen." I rolled my eyes as I realized it was himm. " I understand that you hate me and all, but can we please try going out?" " No." I said. " I'm hanging up." "Wait!" another voice shouted on the phone. " Aunt Frela?" I asked. " You're going on that date. You're gunna get out of my house for once." She hung up before I could protest. "Great! I'll call you tomorrow so I can pick you up." Tristen also hung up before I could protest. What the heck did I just get into?? I wasn't worried for the "date". Maybe I can convince him that dating isn't for me, and we should just be friends. That would be a whole lot easier on my mind. The word love just grinds my gears. A couple of hours before the date, my aunt redialed Tristens number and gave him our address. She doesn't even want to meet the guy. He could have been some kidnapper! But I don't care, she doesn't have to care for me. Whatever. Tristen surprisingly already had his liscense and pulled up in his car. I'm not into cars so I won't describe it but I promise it's nice. "Hungry?" he asked. " It better not be a make it your self dinner." I scoffed as I ducked into the car. He laughed, but I was less than amused. We drove in silence mostly because I turned up the volume of the music as soon as he started to say something. Once we got the the resturant he hurried out of the car and opened my door. I smiled at him wearily as he shut the door behind me and escorted me into the building. He led me to a table in the front corner. When the waiter left our table after getting our drinks I looked Tristen straight in the eyes. " First of all, let's get to the bottom of this date." I clapped my hands in front of me. "Why do you like me?" Tristen smirked. " Ahh, you're really pretty. And you're different." For some reason. I felt somewhat less than satisfied. " Why don't I believe you?" He looked around the resturant... Like he was looking for something... Or someone. He hesitated. " Maybe because you have a little trust issues? I heard from my aunt, she's the Princple and knows everyones background. She remembers you, you're unique. Your parents left you, and your aunt and uncle aren't very kind to you." I feel spied on. He knows so much about me, and all I know is his name is Tristen, and that he is popular in our high school. I didn't know what to say. Tristens phone rang. " Oh I gotta take this. I'll be right back." He got up and went out the front door. 10 minutes later The waitress came to our table and asked me. " Eating alone?" " N o. My date is comming back." I said hopefully. I can't believe I just called him my date.
