Letters to Augustus - Part 8

Dearest Augustus,

This letter will be short, because I've got to go and talk to some doctors who think I've got an attitude problem because I threw a plate of spaghetti at a nurse yesterday. Don't ask.

Things have taken a turn for the worst.

Yesterday I had an appointment with cancer Dr Maria. The Phalanxifor has stopped working completely. I'm dying. And I'm not the only one.

Annie is literally so sick that she can't even speak. I went to visit her this morning. She just stated at me with her sad, blue eyes. I couldn't stay. Seeing her like that hurt me too much. She was crying softly and I couldn't help doing the same. I haven't even known her for a month, and I'm already about to lose her.

Because the Phalanxifor has stopped working, Dr Maria has said that I should try radiotherapy. I said no, because I don't see the point in trying an expensive medical procedure which I know isn't going to work. I'm going to die anyway, and I don't really care when.

I don't have a lot of free time anymore. I'm feeling really ill all the time and I hardly ever have the energy to even eat.

Fuck you, cancer.
