I arrived at Matt's house ten minutes after four. Matt answered the door and invited me inside.

"So, where are your parents?" I asked.

"My mom died when I was five and my dad went to the grocery store."

"I'm so sorry... my dad left my brother and I two years ago. He said he missed being a bachelor. He also said he didn't want us because we are stupid and ugly. He said we are a disgrace to him. You don't have to say your sorry... it doesn't matter to me, I don't care about him and obviously, he doesn't care about me either. Its better this way."

"Its okay and I am truly sorry. See the difference between your situation and mine is, I know my mother loved me. Your dad doesn't, so if anyone should be sorry its me. I'm sorry."

" You said it twice."

" That's because I mean it." he smiled.

I couldn't help but giggle that was the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.

"Thank you."

" Your welcome. Do you want to watch a movie or something?"

"Sure. What do you have?"

"Here, I'll show you."

Matt led me over to the movies he had, he had about a hundred different movies. I'm a big horror movie fanatic, so I choose "Friday the 13th, the one from 2009. I haven't seen it yet and really wanted to.

"You didn't see this yet? I love this one."

" Nope, so its good?"

"Yes!"

We were halfway through the movie when we heard someone opening the front door.

"Don't worry, its just my dad," Matt said.

"Is it okay I'm here?"

"Yeah, he wont care."

"Oh my gosh, Matt. I met the most incredible woman today at th....." Matt's dad started to say.

I met Matt's dad's eyes when I look over at the door. OMG. Matt's dad is.... Michael, the hot guy I met at the diner. Oh no, what am I going to do? So much for he's not going to find out how old I am.

" Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know we had company. Who's your friend?" Man, he look pissed.

"This is Lori James, she's in my Spanish class." Matt explained, oblivious to the tension. " She used to come over all the time about four years ago, remember?"

Well, I guess he knows how old I am.

"Oh... no I don't.  Matt, you should see if your friend wants a drink or something," Michael said.

Matt looked at me as if to ask do you?

"I'm good," I said.

I don't want his dad to confront me, not now. Not ever.

"Well, I do. Can you get it?" Michael asked.

Oh no, this is terrible.

"Yeah, I'll be back, Lori." Matt said.

I nodded and he got up and went into the kitchen.

"I thought you were twenty-one?" Michael whispered.

"Well, I didn't know you were Matt's dad, you didn't tell me you were a parent." I replied.

"No, I didn't mention it but you straight up lied to me, how old are you?"
