Kurt worked at a small mall near town to earn some cash to start earning his own stuff, as his dad and him didn't have enough money to begin with. They lived in a run down apartment living by food stamps and donated clothe that Kurt some how managed to turn into his own style as for his 14th birthday his dad saved enough money to buy kurt a sewing machine to make him happy considering everything that was going on. Besides buying his own stuff with the new job he earned he also wanted to help his family figure things out and get them out of a shabby apartment complex in what some people call the "Hood". Kurt lived in Ohio and had some friends but he was always the outcast no one would pay attention to his ideas and if they did sooner or later they'd forget about them. Kurt was also gay people knew which gave him the ability to in always be himself but of course the downside of that was bullying, non stop. He worked as a cashier and sometimes worked behind the scenes, meaning by giving ideas and organization, but no matter what he still got paid minimum wage because he was only 16 he hadn't even gotten out of high school. Minimum wage still got his family barely by, it was better then his dads car shop as sometimes it wouldn't get a lot of attraction. It would sometimes even be better to just completely forget about the car shop because by the end of it he still didn't make the appropriate amount he needed to pay rent for it so he had to use his other saving originally gonna be used for a family trip to forget about all the nonsense that was happening at home. Burt couldn't leave that shop though without it he would be a mess looking for something to live for because without it he was living for nothing besides debt.
Kurt had a mom, a mom he cared for very much. Kurt was thirteen, he was in his room rearranging his closet separating the blacks from the whites the whites from the reds the reds from the browns and the browns from the blues, he loved organization no way in hell was he gonna let things get mixed things were better organized he could find things easier, save time. Sitting down at his desk and looking at himself in the mirror he arranged his hair into the style he pleased never knowing whether to keep it natural or maybe jazz it up for tomorrow. Tomorrow was the last day of middle school at last kurt could now wear what he pleased he could act more adult he was in high school he was free of rules he thought. He looked down and smiled "maybe ill find true love?". He leaned back on his chair in excitement and got flung forward forgetting the chair wasn't meant to be used to lean back on. Kurt opened the drawer in his dresser and saw his phone, he turned it on and saw that there was a miss call. Being thirteen he was curious to what it could've been, he typed in his password 5-8-7-8 it spelled out kurt in numbers easiest thing to remember, clicked on "Phone" and clicked on "missed" six miss calls from his dad.
Kurt jumped he heard the door fling open in his 3 bedroom home, then he heard the door slammed shut and a big thump. Kurt being curious he walked up the stairs into the first floor and saw his dad on the ground, hands in face, weeping. Kurt was shocked, he had never seen his dad cry, he was almost scared to confront him about it but he did anyways. He took a step, then another step, nearing his father and kneeled down, put his arm around him, then gently rubbed his back "its okay, everything will be okay." kurt reminded him and did for a solid hour until burt got up. "Okay-okay enough is enough." Burt roughly rubbed his eyes and wiped his tears "I'm okay" he said in-between breathes. Kurt felt calmed down and then looked back up at his father "Im not okay." burt exclaimed putting his face into the palms of his hands again. Kurt was patting his fathers back trying to comfort him, whatever his dad was crying about had to be bad, he never did this, this began to worry him. Kurt looked around and looked at the time 10pm "where's mom?" Kurt thought to himself.
"dad." kurt said cautiously "wheres mom?"
