I woke to a bang.
"What do you think you're doing! get up this instant Jasmine! You ungrateful Servant. If your mother could see you now!" yelled Emily whilst unlocking my cell. I stood up immediately. Emily was 3 years younger than me, 14 years old, yet she could tell me to do anything and i would do it. i took one last look out the window before running upstairs to the montine house.
my life is a bit like a fairy tale. like cinderella, without the happy ending. I was sent here after my parents died, to montine mansion. Since i was 4 i have been living in the cell beneath their house and working as their servant for 13 years. But unlike cinderella, no birds sing for me and help me with my jobs. There is no prince or no silver shoe. No fairy god mother and no happily ever after.
"Jasmine. How dare you sleep in. I give you everything. A room, food, water and a loving family,' scolded Miss Montine. How could she say that to me? I live in a cellar, no bed no clothes, just four brick walls and i tiny window. I have one meal a day, but make them at least seven, and how dare they call themselves a loving family. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't cry. Not now, it was to early to get beaten.
"I'm sorry Miss. I don't know what came over me. I will wake up earlier tomorrow." I said softly.
"Yes you will. And for you tardiness you will do extra jobs for me."
"Yes Miss," i replied, staring at the floor which i was about to clean for the sixth time this week.
"Jasmine. Look at me when i speak to you. Now go make our food. Darling Trisha is starving, as is Emily and myself." I looked at Trisha smirking at me. I sighed softly, making sure they didn't hear me.
"Yes," I said as i went to the kitchen to make their meal. I could hear Emily talking from the kitchen.
"Why must we have her! I see so many other girls with prettier servants." She was saying.
"Yes mother, she was crying again last night. I couldn't sleep! How dare she." Trisha agreed.
"Stop complaining darling. I know she is not the best but i promised her father i would take good care of her. I am not a lier girls, as much as i would like to i would not deceive my brother like that." Miss montine said.
I must correct myself. My life is nothing like cinderellas.
