11 YEARS PRIOR
The clouds didn't move, they stayed put like the earth suddenly stopped spinning, but mama tells me it's always spinning, the earth, it's always spinning. just not today.
The sun was red, a nice ripe red colour, I could pick it right outta the sky, like the strawberries papa and me always picked in the community garden...
This is odd because Josey once asked me if the sun could ever be red, it's her favourite colour, I told her the sun will always be and has always been yellow, she believed me.
The big town speakers went off and the little government people's that lived in their ordered for everyone to go to the underground shelters, I dropped my new pink V.503 hover bike and obeyed. Mama, papa, Josey and me all went together. Josey cries, but I can't cry mama tells me. I can't cry like how Josey does, how she wails and throws her arms around because I'm six now, I'm a big girl now.
While Josey cried mama and papa whispered between each other and said funny things. Not funny funny, just funny weird. Like 'the world is ending' it's weird cause ma and pa, they never lie.
