"Why can't I just wear sandals or something?" I yelled at my mother who was trying to force the white heels on my feet.

"You're not going unless you wear these heels." She stirnly said, holding up the shoes.

"I didn't even wanna go anyway!" I slammed my door and crawled into my bed, blocking out all the cruel words my mother was screaming from the other side of the locked door. I swear we can never agree on anything, it's either her way or no way. I think that usually how mothers are though, that's one of the very few things I miss about my father, he was always on my side and did whatever I wanted to do.

I pulled out my phone and texted my best friends, Hensely and Easton, and invited them to come with me. I realized that showing up at a party by yourself was kind of sad, and plus I would need some company, after all, I didn't know anyone there, not even Leo. I'm not even sure how he got my name and address.

I noticed that the house was silent and there was no screaming. I unlocked my door and walked into the living room where my mom was sitting on the couch watching a cooking show with the heels sitting on the coffee table. I sat next to her, resting my head on her shoulder. "I'm going to the party." I said and her eyes looked down at me with a glare. "And I'll wear the heels." I huffed. She smiled and wrapped her arm around my shoulder, then placed a loving kiss on the top of my head. "And Hensley and Easton are gonna give me a ride there." I added.

"Were they invited too?" My mother asked with a smile.

"No, but I'm not gonna know anyone there so I thought it would be fun to bring them."

"Okay." She said in an exhale. "Now go hurry up and get ready. The party is in two hours."

I went to my room and slipped on my dress and the stupid white heels. I curled my hair into messy curls and my makeup was pretty basic. I was ready within an hour and a half. My phone buzzed when I was brushing my teeth and I saw a one word text from Easton saying "here". I said goodbye to my mother who's only advice for the night was "be safe" and then got into the backseat of the black car that waited for me outside.

"Heyyy bitch." Hensely and her Australian accent greeted me. Hensely and I became best friends in seventh grade when her family moved here from Sydney. Easton became our third wheel around freshman year when he developed a crush on Hensely and started following her around like a puppy dog. That affection died out around sophomore year and now they're like brother and sister.

"So where are we going?" Easton asked. I pulled out the invitation from my small black purse and handed it to him. "Oh I know exactly where this is." Easton said looking at the small card.

"Really?" I asked being unfamiliar with the address.

"Yeah yeah. You know that HUGE white house that's like 80% windows on the other side of the lake?"

"That place? Seriously?" Hensely said excited. "How did you even get invited to this party?"

"Uh, I know the guy hosting it."

Easton started the car and began driving.
