Friday came along and I still wasn't ready to meet this new, Josh, guy. but I'd do anything to make Val happy. At noon we all met up at the Café, the nearest place from us where we could just sit and talk. I thought it was perfect because I already knew I was going to need a lot of caffeine to get through this day.

"Carter! You made it, I'm so happy." Val said with a big smile on her face while giving me a hug. "I wouldn't miss this. I know this is important to you." I said unsurely while hugging her back. "Carter, this is Josh. Josh, this is my best friend Carter." she couldn't stop smiling. "Hey man, nice to meet you." I said to Josh putting on a fake smile. "Yeah, same here." Josh said while shaking my hand.

It didn't take long to realize he wasn't Val's type. Even though I never really knew what her type was exactly I just knew he wasn't it. Josh looked like a snobby little rich boy.. I've never seen Val with a white guy before. She was always more into the tanned ones. The ones who loved to be out in the sun. He didn't seem to be anything like that. He dressed like if this were to be a business meeting or something. Why can't this guy just relax? His side slimed blonde hair. Yeah, he looked like he could be seen in those wanna-be perfect family commercials.

We sat down and all we did was just talk. I heard their story of how they started going out. Josh made a big deal about the way he asked her out, as if he was proposing or something. "... I thought it would be fun to send her a piece of paper her way during class. In the note it said Will you be my girlfriend, Y/N??  How old are you? Ten? I thought to myself. This guy is a joke. All Val did was smile.

"Oh. I'm out of coffee. Will you guys excuse me, I'm going to go get more. Keep talking!" Val said while walking away but yet still looing back at us. As soon as she disappeared into the crowd the unexpected happened.

"Look, I know you're her best friend and all, but I'm not letting anyone take her away from me. Not even you. So don't even bother. I'm going to make Valerie so happy she's going to end up forgetting about you." josh said sharply.

I looked at him with so much anger! But I couldn't let him know that my blood was boiling from his pathetic words. So all I did was laugh. "Okay, first of all, no one will ever get rid of me! You want to be with her, you're going to have to deal with me! I'm her best friend so joke is on you and one day I'm  going to laugh in your face and remind you of how fucken stupid you sound right now..." I was interrupted by Vals upcoming presence. "Hey guys!" Man. Only if she knew what had just happened.

He will be sorry.

I had to end up leaving and head back to my apartment to study for an upcoming text. What the fuck! I yelled as I threw my cup of water and slammed it to the wall across my room.

No! She's not into you. She never will be. She's your best friend. If she was into you, she would of have said or done something in the past, but she hasn't.
I tried to convince myself that so I wouldn't get so mad or jealous.

No! Fuck Josh! She's going to be mine and mine only!!! Very very soon!

*Ring, Ring. Ring, Ring.*

"Hello?" I answered without knowing who It was. "Carter?" I checked my screen and it was Hailey. My ex girlfriend. One of the few who actually wanted to be with me. I wasn't very interested in her so I broke things off and still after that she would still try to make things work. "Hey, Carter. Its Hailey . how are you doing? I miss you. I haven't heard from you in such a long time." she kept talking. "Yeah, sorry I've just been so busy with school and stuff.. you know?" I explained.

We stayed on the phone for a few hours catching up. We had a few laughs and reminiscing on the past. At the end, we ended up setting a day to see each other. She promised it would be nothing more than just a friend to friend meet up. She was very much aware I wanted nothing more.

When Val asked me when did I want to hang out, I thought it would be the perfect idea to set up a date the same day I was meeting with Hailey. This is how I would know if she felt something for me. I wasn't going to tell her that Hailey was coming, I wanted to see her face expression myself. I was risking to get very disappointed, but, because I knew Josh would be there I didn't know what to expect.

"Oh look there they are." I told Hailey while pointing at Val's table.

"Hey Val! remember Hailey?" I asked.

"Carter!" she said with a big smile. "Yeaaahh, I remember Hailey, how are you doing?" Val asked while her smile slowly started to die. "Oh my goodness, Val its been a long time, you look beautiful!" Hailey complimented. "Yeah.. Thank you Hailey." Val  stared at me, looking like she wanted to kill me.

As the lunch date went by I couldn't help but notice that every time I looked up Val would already be starring at me. Even though she had a smile on her face, her eyes told me otherwise. They looked darker. They were telling me that she was very much upset. In a way, I felt happy about that. That was making this entre day much better.

When the night came to an end and I was getting ready to go to sleep my phone started to buzz, it was Val. I smiled so big my cheeks started to hurt quick.

" What's up?" I asked trying to play it cool, trying to not show my excitement that she was calling me.

"Carter! What the fuck were you thinking? Like seriously?" Val yelled. I laid back on my bed, still smiling. This was going to be the one time I loved hearing Val yell at me.

"What are you talking about Val?" I asked trying so hard to act dumb about the situation
