Birthdays? She had had many of them but it was not always the best day of the year for her or anything. Even her birthday had a specific routine.
She would wake up, her mom would be cooking something special for her, as soon as she would see Mia, her mom would hug her and say happy birthday. Her dad would call her and wish her.
Her robots would give her the same gift every year, a ticket to this fare that happened around the time she had her birthday which was the second best thing she would get. She didn't want to be an ungrateful person but she was just bored and cared less about her birthdays. In the evening they would cut a cake that her mom baked and her dad like always never came for it because he was obviously busy doing science like always and her mom would give her a present.
It was most of the time a book which was best thing she got of course. Her mom would write her dad's name and tell that it was from him too but Mia knew better it was only from her mom, brought by her money and heart.
That's why she loved her mom so much because her mom always cared. Mia knew that she would miss this routine the next day. Even though she had lived a lot of it but it was something, it was more like everything.
"Mia, here's a little bit of food," Someone with a deep voice said from behind.
It was a man who worked with them.
"But we already had our day's food," Mia replied.
"It's just a treat.. celebrating our survival," he said giving her a some cherries. It was surely a treat.
Mia took them. She didn't immediately put it in her mouth, she thought about it, if she would refrigerate it without anyone seeing it, it would last a while.
She decided to save it for her birthday as a gift from herself to herself but technically her birthday would start in a few minutes because it was 11:53 already.
She laughed because for the first time in her life, she was going to do a countdown for her birthday, she decided to eat them at 12 on the dot. Usually she would sleep by now but it was exciting.
After all she promised herself that she was going to make the last days on the Earth, her best days. The thought that she was going to be sixteen years in a little bit of time was a bit odd.
She smelled the berries and it smelt so good and it was so appealing. She knew that there was no way that her dad would remember that it was her birthday and it was totally fine with her.
There was exactly one minute to 12 and for some reason she had knots in her stomach. She looked more closely at the seconds clock and it was 30 seconds left.
And at 12 sharp she put a berry in her mouth and enjoyed it to it's full potential. She then decided to sleep, she pulled things closer and she slept eating the rest of the berries slowly.
When Mia woke up she did feel fresh because she didn't get her obnoxious dream that she got every night. She sang happy birthday to herself by whispering it.
She had read a fact that this song was created before two or three centuries which was really suprising and Mia was curious about the reason that this song had hung around for so long.
She got up, today she prepared herself to do a bit of physical work because she was feeling it. She just wished she could smell her mom cooking about tasty but it was too much to ask for.
Most of them had already woken up and everyone were busy doing a lot of work and they looked tired but not too tired where there are almost about to give up.
Since, people hadn't already left for getting food she decided to tag along with them. Today she would hunt alone because Dee was busy with helping her parents with some experiments and stuff.
