Chapter 3: Waiting

I look across to the wall where Tyler and Alex are sitting. Well more like Tyler's sitting and Alex is laying his head on Tyler's lap. Tyler just smiles down at Alex and strokes his back.  

Beth takes of her gas mask and tell me "We've been her for hours!" I'm not in the mood so I just tap on my gas mask to remind her. She puts it on while muttering about something I can't hear.

Just then I hear footsteps. I tighten my grip on my gun. Christi was right, the National had a better chance than us. I point at Tyler then at the spot next to me. Showing him I want him and Alex behind me. He wakes Alex up and they move behind me. I point to Beth to do the same and she just nods no slowly. I wouldn't mind if she got shot but Tyler would and it would scar Alex for life. I put my gun up so she can see it. She rolls her eyes and crosses her arms. I then point the gun at her. I know this is dangerous but with the attitude she's been giving me I really couldn't care.

Another footstep. She moves behind me slowly trying to act like I didn't make her but she decided to. I look to my right and I see Merideth holding a bat. I guess she understood too. I hear a knock five times. I lead the way and have Merideth follow me. I point to the lid and she opens it with the bat I then point my gun. Christi looks down at me. "She's gone. Probably a lower ranked one based on the fact she didn't even glance at this house."

"Your sure she's gone." I say partly sarcastically. "Yah." She says again while rolling her eyes. Then she just walks away. I look at Meridith, and point at where Christi was standing. Merideth just shrugs. I feel a tug on my shirt and look down to see Alex. "I have to go to the bathroom." Alex says looking up at me with big blue eyes. "Tyler will you take Alex to the bathroom." I ask Tyler with a look that says you don't really have a choice since your the only other boy.
